I am sure my animal totem is the turtle. I used to see real ones every where.
When I was driving on the road, in front of my home. I would also see pictures of them in unexpected ways. Lately, I am not seeing the turtle but seeing butterflys evrywhere. The other days seven appeared all at once when I went in my backyard. Is it possible that the butterfly is now my totem?. Why would it change?. Is this a positive thing? Does anyone have a totem they would like to share? |

It is said that some totem animals may be with us for life and others may come and go as our needs change and our life lesson evolves.
The Blue Heron is what I refer to as my primary totem because we knew each other first, and longest. But there are occasionally times when I feel he is farther from me and I find myself keeping closer company with crow and chickadee and others. Turtle is a wonderful totem, often representing Mother Earth herself. Many indigenous North Americans referred to the continent (the whole world, as they knew it) as Turtle Island. |

This is what I felt
The blue heron is a totem (symbol) of someone who has chosen to claim their life as their own. According to North American Native tradition, the Blue Heron brings messages of self-determination and self-reliance. It represents an ability to progress and evolve. The long thin legs of the heron reflect that even though we must be able to stand on our own, we don't need legs that are great massive pillars to remain stable. Blue Herons have the innate wisdom of being able to maneuver through life and co-create their own cir***stances. If the Blue Heron has shown up as your totem, it reflects your need to follow your own unique wisdom and path of self-determination. You know what is best for yourself, and need to follow your heart rather than the promptings of others. You probably sit calmly while the rest of us lose patience. And when you choose to follow the promptings of your heart, you soar with magnificence. Love and blessings |

I think my totem is a dolphin.
I don't think you have to worry about anything--some stay for your whole life and some come and go, just like Pagan Medium and Thunderfoot said. Maybe it did switch, or maybe your turtle is still there but butterflies are trying to give you a message?? *Googling butterfly totem* "Herein lies the deepest symbolic lesson of the butterfly. She asks us to accept the changes in our lives as casually as she does. The butterfly unquestioningly embraces the chances of her environment and her body. This unwavering acceptance of her metamorphosis is also symbolic of faith. Here the butterfly beckons us to keep our faith as we undergo transitions in our lives. She understands that our toiling, fretting and anger are useless against the turning tides of nature – she asks us to recognize the same." - http://www.whats-your-sign.com/butte...symbolism.html It also said that the butterfly can represent resurrection, transition, celebration, lightness, time, or soul. |
