Default can you help with an opinion please
Things arn't going well at work, that's on the whole not just me, & I have a feeling it's going to collapse, yet nobody else seems to be bothered about it, so I'm wondering if i'm over reacting. I've had this feeling a while now, & mentioned it to a few workmates.

Last week, we had a staff meeting, letting us know how things were going, & we were told that finances have been going down for some time, this financial year, we will probably hit rock bottom, now no company can operate when this happens, as we know.

The week before the meeting I had a dream about work, where there were two groups of us, & in my group we were talking about who was staying & who was going, then it was over & my group went out to meet the other group, where they said they had no meeting, but were watching a coffin pass.

Well at the staff meeting the week after my dream, we were told there were going to be 2 groups ( like in my dream) & a couple of other things that were in my dreams are eventuating, I did mention this dream to two colleagues the day after I had it, & they couldn't believe how accurate my dream was.

I feel that the company will either outsource the work like they used to before they opened the call center, or the company is down sizing. We've been operating over 12 yrs, but I could see things were going down for about 3 yrs, but ignored it, as nothing was said by management, & nobody else seemed bothered about it, & although it was made official, that things were not going well, no one else seems bothered about it.

Am I over reacting, as I don't want to try for another job, then find that things are going to be ok, but I don't want to be caught out looking for another job with everyone else.

Can any one sense if I'm right?

Unfortunately Tarni this is a sign of the times the whole World is in a recession my husband is loosing his job in a week or two's time and there is not a thing we can do about it. Everything happens for a reason nothing happens by chance.

There's is not a lot else I can say my attitude now is that we are one of millions that this has happened to, and yes I've got a family and every thing like everyone else, its not that my husband doesn't want to work he's getting forced out of a job that he totally thought that he would retire from someday.

Unfortunately this didn't happen because it wasn't meant to be, I just accept every thing that comes my way these days because sometimes these things are out of your control and there is nothing that you can do about it. Just ride with the tide Tarni and take every day as it comes and do not worry about it until it happens that is the best advice I can give you from someone who is gonna be in that position very soon.

Thanks angelwings, I'm putting out my resume/cv for jobs advertised, I'm not waiting for the crunch, the trouble is , age, I know bosses arn't supposed or I should say arn't allowed to discriminate against age, but they do.

As you said nothing can be done about it, & I'm not worrying about it, just getting on with it. I haven't been happy where I am in a long time, & I've seen the warning signs, it's up to me do do something.

Anyway I'm using my energy in looking for a new job rather than worrying about losing my old one, & trusting that the universe will help me.

tarni if it makes you feel any better.. When Im looking to fill a position Age has no bearing on it. As long as the salary doesnt go over what I am willing to pay. I have hired 2 woman in the past that were over the age of 50, and 3 men over 50. All did a great jobs .
1. (no offense here) but they are old school. They understand more about a days pay and responsibility for there job. I get less calls form a matured person saying "they cant make it in" then our younger employee's. They understand busy seasons, and never ask me "can I take vacations" during it. I have never had an older employee take off when we had scheduled days of not being in, when they are needed the most. (Cant come in at docs Have a fever, come in after being out Monday-Thursday Show up Friday on pay day with a tan lines, and cant produce a doctors note) They always come in on pay day lol

Be positive! Saying a prayer you find a position that values your experiance and knowledge with the financial situation to bring you in at a higher salary!

Thanks Smiles, actually I heard from one of the companies I applied to, but the location wasn't where I thought it was, they relocated, & without a car, it's difficult to get to, & the hrs are into early evening. I do have a car, but I also want something if anything went wrong, I could catch a bus, but this place would need 3 buses, & working to 7pm, I don't like the idea of public transport at night, too much trouble with hooligans here.

Also, the biggest factor with this company, I've looked into it a bit more & I don't get a good feel about it,---- if you get what I mean, despite the wages are higher, I might leave it & wait to see if I get any replies from a couple of other places, & still keep looking around.
