Default i have started crying in church
any clue why this would happen? it could be during a hymn, during prayer, or just when i happen to look at my family. It isn't that there was anything particularly moving about any of them (ok.. maybe looking at my family.. i am a sap, so that part sets me off pretty frequently) It doesn't happen every week, but probably 4 out of 5 times recently, i end up tearing up, and usually having to wipe tears away for a reason that i can't identify.

Thoughts?

Edited to add: I am not a religious person. I agreed to take my kids because i think that organized religion can provide a good foundation for socially moral people. So, it isn't that the easter vigil was "meaningful" for me...

If you figure it out, let me know! I always make sure I have a box of kleenex next to me at church -- I am like a faucet. It has been happening with me for years. It happens almost every time I am there . . .

Polgara,

I do the same thing. I don't think it has anything to do with the religious institution itself, but rather it is more about being in the presence of God, Creator, Source, etc. And if that isn't enough to bring a person to tears, I don't know what is.

leeslight: i re-read my post, and i do sound a little defensive i didn't mean to. i was trying to give a little background - that is what i get for posting so late (or early as the case may be)

I have this happen when I listen to gospel music.....

I am of the personal belief that when this happens it's like the scripture......the Holy Spirit came upon him.....example: David or Jesus

it shakes you to your core and causes the emotional tears

Ever since I turned 23 and received my spiritual awakening..going to post it in experiences soon...I have had a burning desire in my heart and soul to learn about Jesus christ...I am filled with awe almost a happiness that is too divine to explain when I hear people talk about him..when i am in church and hear his name i break down and cry. I believe that since we are all connected as one we are tied to Christ or Rah or Dali lama or whomever you beleive to be God in human form we have a want in our hearts to meet him. For awhile now everytime i hear his name i cry everytime i hear his name i see myself as a child looking up to him when he was getting crucified...the love and aura of Christ and God is as such to do nothing but pull our heart strings...you are in the right place if you feel this..he wants to meet you he wants you to see him .. when you get these feelings of wanting to cry imagine yourself 'stepping' into the emotion bask in it remember it recreate it on your own time...we all must form a relationship with a higher power the absolute God in order to proceed into our pyschic World.

I sense a blessing on you of love.

Zinthar,

That was so beautifully said, it made me cry. Thank you.

I agree Zinthar! It is because we all have "God spark" inside of us. When we sense HOME or HIM, we cry because, well, this earth school is so DAMN negative! It's homesickness
