I'm going to try to describe a couple different things that have been happening to me, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences, or if someone can give me some insight as to what this is...

First there's a conscious focusing of energy I can do. As I sit there, if I focus through my torso area, I can feel this energy coursing up through my body. It feels a bit like fire, or an adrenaline rush. I think it might be chi, or prana, but I'm not sure. It's a very physical sensation. It's almost like fire, or a rush of wind.

I can only sustain it for about 2 seconds and then I have to rest for a few seconds. It's almost like tensing muscles, but it's accompanied by a rush that goes all the way from my pelvic region to the top of my head. I imagine someone who's very sensitive at detecting energy would probably have to be near me to get a good idea of what this energy is. I'm wondering if it's useful - what can I do with it? Should I try to summon it in a more focused and sustained manner? I just learned I could do this sometime within the past year, but I do remember as a very small child I could make myself so heavy that big kids couldn't pick me up. It seems like it might be related, but I'm not sure.

Another type of energy that I've been experiencing is spontaneous. It happens when I'm half awake and half asleep. If I wake up in the night I can feel it coursing through me, and usually what follows will be an extremely vivid, often lucid dream, or what feels like astral projection or even time travel. I've had some extremely powerful experiences following this energy release.

It feels much more powerful than what I was talking about earlier when I consciously summon energy, but it's similar. One difference is that this comes in waves, or a vibration, almost like someone is blasting a subwoofer through me. Sometimes I can hear it in my ears like wind. Sometimes it's smooth, and sometimes it's rough. I can consciously direct the flow somewhat, and if I wake up to full consciousness, it goes away. It's definitely connected to being half awake/half asleep. It feels tingly and in some ways, it almost feels like some type of drug. The sensation covers my whole body, but it's especially strong from the waist up.

It doesn't feel negative at all - it's actually rather pleasant, but in some ways it almost feels scary... like I've awoken some kind of dragon inside me... like there's a side of me that's extremely ancient and powerful.

What is this? Are they both the same energy? Is this Kundalini? I don't practice Kundalini Yoga, but I do a lot of chakra meditations and breathwork. When this energy happens though, it's never part of meditation. The first type of energy is like flexing muscles somewhere, and the second just happens spontaneously in the wee hours of the night, about 3-4 times a week. Actually I should start logging how often it happens in my journal.

I feel that you are experiencing a Kundalini awakening, I could be wrong though.. Your symptoms are similar to it.. Some of the symptoms of it are as below-

Common Kundalini Awakening Symptoms:
•Tingling in the body and brain region. Also sometimes described as ants walking, tickling energy or flushes of energy. The brain being flushed with energy is quite pleasant :-).
•Heat or cold in the system, or running along various channels and chakra centers.
•Fluttering or twitching of muscles.
•Pinching or burning in various regions of the body or brain.

Uncommon Kundalini Awakening Symptoms:
•Pressure in the Third Eye Region (Ajna Chakra). This is pressure, tingling or other sensation in the center of the forehead. Can go on for years (14 years and counting so far for me). Caution: If the pressure, due to certain practices, intensifies to uncomfortable levels you feel are "immense", you should cease that practice and consult a competent kundalini yoga teacher.
•Sudden bursts of energy anywhere in the body. These are almost always short lived, from a few seconds to a few minutes.
•Spontaneous yoga asans or kundalini yoga movements. They may come on spontaneously, or they may take over, as if on auto-pilot when one is practicing Kundalini Yoga Kriyas or Exercises (For an example see article: Explosive Kundalini Rising in Class Today).
•Kundalini Shakti rising up and elongating the spine.
•Incredible feeling of love and desire for your partner (not ordinary lust, alcohol induced or otherwise :-). Usually comes upon you spontaneously, deep in the night. Sex feels like it’s the first such experience and the intense feelings of attraction emanate from somewhere beyond yourself.
•Unfortunately, pain in the lower back, back of the neck and headaches.

Rare Kundalini Awakening Symptoms:
•Experience of divine light within. Very intense light, usually pure white and incredibly beautiful. I call it the Radiation of the Lord.
•Tremendous vibratory energy (sometimes feels like it’s coming from the inner ears). Very blissful, but can intensify to the point where it would completely overwhelm your consciousness if you let it.
•Spontaneous bliss, intensely pleasurable.
•This one is a bit scary. Complete paralysis of the body. Complete immobility and rigidity takes place. As with the all consuming vibratory energy, it requires some courage to allow.
•This one is exceedingly rare. I have experienced it only once in my life, and have only ever read about it being experienced by one other - the master of awareness, G. I. Gurdjieff. The arms and legs churn like that of a baby. It happens naturally and cannot be simulated. It is also intensely pleasurable and quite a remarkable experience.

I think I figured out what that vibration is at night... it's the "vibrational stage" preceding astral projection. This is interesting because it's true that many times when I've gotten to that stage, I've launched into a very vivid lucid dream, or I've found myself in other locations (like the kitchen, living room, etc.) and everything is so vivid and real, it feels like way more than a dream.

That perfectly describes what happens to me. Wild! You know, a lot of people can see auras, or have other really vivid psychic experiences, and it's hard for me not to be jealous. But... now I feel so lucky! I'm an astral traveler and didn't even know it.

This is funny because when I was only 2 or 3 years old, I remember very distinctly how totally obsessed I was with Superman. Not just Superman, but the idea of being able to fly. I would pray and pray, every day, with every ounce of my being, that God would give me the ability to fly. And... he did!

Next time I get that vibration, I'm going to see if I can consciously go into an OBE. I'll come back with my report. I'm so excited.

as i read your note , i had a most pleasent feeling over me , ,, i have experianced the same thing and it is something to do with astral travel,, i had the same vibration thing for a while and funny thing it was at the start of my awakeing,
i feel you do a lot of work when your asleep and you travel as well , ,, but one thing i do see is thet there ia a female figure ,like a granmother who is standing beside you when you wake up ,, she has a granmother feel to her , and i takeing it that she is a guied and a graet teacher as well , i get the name mary from her??
i allso get a head ache from her like a stroke or tumore,, dose this mean any thing to you ,
the energy you are feeing could be this guied who is with you ,, do you see her when you meditate ?
to me it feels like your on your way ,,wakeing up so to speak,,,
but this dosent answar your question about what you can do with it though dose it ,
it certainly is a good thing though to keep track of the things you feel and see as i feel theres alot more to come

Daydream, thank you for your reply. Sorry I haven't responded to this particular one to give you confirmation of your intuition, so I want to do that now.

This spirit you speak of sounds like my maternal grandmother. Her name was Helen, but her mother was named Mary. Helen died of complications from a stroke, so your impressions are quite accurate. You have a gift. I've often felt my maternal grandfather's presence; he died when I was 11, but I always felt a strong connection to him.

I hadn't really thought a lot about my grandma Helen since she died, but it's very interesting that you picked up on her. Since then I've been paying closer attention to see if I can detect her. It's really tough though - subjective validation, power of suggestion, etc. - easy to doubt.

Hi everyone!!

One night, I thought I was dreaming and I saw myself laying on bed next to my husband, then all of a sudden Im looking at the ceiling and start having this sensation of floating...I then look back and saw my body laying peacefully on the bed with my two hands holding together and resting on top of my belly...~weird I never sleep like that~ anyhow, I then realized what's going on and tried to come back to my body....I wasn't scared, but It felt weird...I think I was ready to have an astral projection ~which I think that's what we do when we are dreaming~ I was just aware of it... .... I also. once ~this has to do with energy~and I keep wondering about it...if you guys can help me to figure this one out~ I was waiting for my bus...sitting thre being patience and such...all of a sudden I stared at a fixed point and start seeing this flow of energy like if it was a tunnel....right there infront of me...I thought maybe its my eyes...I look somewhere else...and then realized that I wasn't really seeing it with my physical eyes, but with my third eye...~which was shocking for me, I'll explain later~...and then all this white energy started forming the flower of life...which at that point was the first time I even saw the image...anyhow, I thought i was just imagining things...and that night after movies with my husband and some friends we decided to hit the bookstore, I told him I'll be in my section...~ new age and spirituality~ and what was my surprise when I felt this book without seeing the cover that had the same image I saw earlier that day...I was sooo thrill...since then i prayed and meditate about what maybe spirit would liked me to know about it...or read about it...I still can't figure it out...I know I eventually will, maybe Im just not ready yet, but it gives me shivers everytime I think about it......

Welcome to the wonderful world of energy. You are now starting to tap into the energy within yourself.. The first is a form of projection. You are conscounsly willing it to flow. Couple that with a specic type of energy, healing energy or whatever and this is the energy you send forth to healing someone nearby or long distance. Right now your awakeing this. The more comfortable you feel with this energy, the more youcan target it for a specific purpose. Believe it or not, this also the basis for magick. Tapping into and releasing it towards a specific goal. The same for energy healing, this is why if you can do it while the person is near by, ou can also do it accross the world. There is no radius that this energy can't travel. The more confident you are about it working, the more easily and quickly it will work. However there are other froces at work, si if it dousn't work, it's not the practicioner but possibly fate. however many people are able to do this with alot of success.
Not sure about the second one, but as you begin to tap into this energy within yourself, it may come across in different ways. This may be the beginning of astral projection.
