We don't really get along well and I'm always screaming about wanting to move out and I think right now I may be in a better situation to move out even though I'd need HUD housing and even though I thought I came up with a good plan for moving away to get more money for college, they hate it. They assume while I live with an aunt that lives closer to the college that I would just take advantage of her. My aunt and my sister who partially owns the house (it's in her name) have already offered for me to move up there for a little while to look for work and help out with the bills here and there. I figure I could handle this for a while and maybe considering I'm in vocational rehab and I may get disability that I could handle an apartment on my own that has HUD/public housing.
Of ccourse this is not my goal but it's a reality I've been facing for some time Why do my parents worry so much, and plus I have trouble getting money to go to the community college through FAFSA, and student grants, etc because of my parents' income and them having to count me as a dependent. |

Hi PrincessKLS,
I'm english so I don't really know what HUD housing is so could you please educate me? Your parents are your parentrs no matter what age you are even if you get on or you don't, they are always there for you no matter what I no because I'm a mother to a teenager and a 1.5 year old. Do you not think that your parents will be all the more protective if you have a disability could you also explain vocational rehab? Speak to You Soon Love and Light Louise X |

Certainly, HUD is basically public housing and most welfare/disability (dole to the English) recipients get this type of low rent, low prestigue housing. And vocational rehab is supposed to be a "training facility" for disabled people and it's just an awful experience. You may have something like like this in the UK but the problem with the area of America I live in (which is Southwestern Virginia) it's not a very economically prosperous place and little resources for anyone, much less someone with a mild disability.

Hi PrincessKLS,
Unfortunately princessKLS this is were the divide of money can be very cruel, I am a very spiritual person and I have no care for money only that I need to pay my bills and feed and clothe myself and my kids. I love the second-hand shops and I get alot of bargains in their I'm always thankful and count my little blessings and finds that I recieve. I started off in a coucil one bedroom flat then I was put in a 2 bedroom house by the council we then bought our council house and made quite a bit of money on it. A house is just a house bricks and mortar but only you the person inside it can make it a home even if it is a HUD housing. Everyone has to start off somewhere remember if you want your indpendance I wish you the very best of luck. Love and Light Louise XXX |
