That is sorta similar to the memories I have. I can remember that when I hit the floor at the bottom I'd always hurt my feet and ankles (it was carpet covered concrete) and then the time I floated down there was no pain as I landed gently on the floor.
I honestly couldn't begin to think of what could have caused it but I'm glad people have had similar experiences.

I've flown a lot in dreams. But I don't recall ever flying in real life. I always wanted to, but never could.

Default Memories of "flying"
Normally I would think I was crazy, but I have actually spoken to a few people who have memories of flying or floating as a child. I was speaking about it with a couple of friends of mine and we could all remember when it happened and actually believed that we either flew or floated until a certain age where we then assumed it was a dream we had.
Now, I'm not saying that when I was a child I could fly but I wanted to know if anyone else has had memories like this and what do you think causes them.
My memory was when I was little I would always jump down the basement steps at my grandmothers (obviously a fairly small set of steps lol) and I be trying to fly. Then one day I caught in the air and slowly floated to the floor at the bottom of the stairs. I can remember it to this day as if it were real.
My friends memories were similar. They were either jumping or about to fall off of something when they simply caught in the air and floated to the ground.
What do you think is the cause of these memories? I don't tend to get dreams and reality confused, even when I was a child. Or do you think that floating is possible?
Once thing that does confuse me more is a genuine memory. My grandmother had, what we thought was a mouse in her house. I went on a search for it and found it done day in her kitchen. I remember screaming and then I remember being on a chair on the other side of the room with my grandmother standing in the doorway, almost in tears demanding to know how I got to the chair from where I was standing. And the giant rat I saw that made me scream... was the tiniest little mole

I just thought it might be an interesting topic. Like I said, usually I would think I was imagining it all but others have said that they have these memories too.

Wow,what a fascinating experience Ooms! I definitely believe that we all have some innate paranormal abilities and even though I don't have memories of floating or flying, I do remember dissapearing whilst hiding from my mom. I was about 7 or 8, and one fine morning when the school bus came to pick me up, I ran and hid to avoid going. My mom searched for me and actually found me in my hiding spot. Her face was so close that she could have kissed me (Of course...she wasn't in the mood at the time to do so...lol) but she didn't see me. Anyways, the school bus left and I eventually came out of my hidey hole and got my spankings for both hiding and lying. She never did believe me when I told her where I was hiding. Actually, nobody ever has and I can't blame them. But I know and I still think of that every once in a while.
I think it's wonderful that you've had those experiences and also found friends who had similar experiences. Wouldn't it be wonderful to do it again but consciously?

Thats a really amazing experience Meander. Invisibility certainly could come in handy!

It's something that I've always found fascinating and always thought that maybe there was an explination for why I had these memories. I know that the one that involved my grandmother happened for certain but the other memory I convinced myself was a dream. I can even remember telling my mother that I floated down the stairs lol.
It would be kinda cool if we could do it again consciously. I think my family might worry if I started trying to fly down the stairs

Sounds very interesting Albajane. Do you attempt at out of body experiences or do they just happen?

They just happen .never tried to do it willingly...although sometimes before sleep I feel my body trembling and the room seems to take on a weird atmosphere but then i get scared and talk myself "back" and go to sleep ....thinking on this now seems to suggest attempting out of body experience
