I agree with Koi too. Spirit can manifest itself to look like it did when it was in the physical body.
I think the orb is just a convenient way to travel.

I'm not sure if what I saw was real or my imagination. When I was about 8 years old, my great uncle passed away. We drove the hour long ride to the funeral. Once we greeted the rest of the family we sat down for the service. As the priest was talking, I was looking at my uncle's body. I swear I saw his spirit turn his his head, look at me and raise up out of his body. I was terrified & ran out of the funeral home and would not go back in. Has anyone had a similar experience? Was this real or my imagination? I am now 35 years old but I remember it like it was yesterday,

Hi Mecca! I fully believe what I saw. Is it possible that a spirit leaves the body in the same form as in life? I mean, he looked as he did in life, but I could see through him. I always thought your spirit was an energy (orb), or is it that the spirit lets you see it as you remember them in life?

gina: Usually, the spirit departs the body at the moment of death. I feel that the reason you saw your great uncle rise up out of his body was because he was aware that you would be able to "see" his spirit, and he wanted to make you aware without a doubt that spirit is indeed still existant after the death of the physical body. I'm sure he thought of it as a gift, and didn't realize it would frighten you so much.
