I saw a programe about this on national geography channel.They did research on it scientifically as well,putting all sorts of wires and machines to the person's brain who spoke in tongues they didnt understand while in prayer and they discovered that just as they had done research on possession by negitive spirits in which they show sceptics going to a place where they they find between rocks lots of black magic done ...in the sense that there are all kinds of really ugly and eeky bottles and jars with claws and body parts of animals ,threads ,poppets etc and the priest(who they take along with them )opens up all these jars and boxes and says his prayers etc releasing all the damage done by negitive spirits.the sceptics while watching this first feel a headache,then nausea and finally faint.
on the contrary,when doing research on the ones speaking in unusual languages while in prayer,they discovered that these people were possessed by the holy spirit.
A sage once told me that in the brahman ,there is already script of sacred words and chants written(like the sanskrit chants which are so powerful and ancient and produce such powerful positive vibes and results).I presume that when one makes a connnection ,some could be reading those scripts and giving out powerful vibes which hence make everyone arund feel whole and peaceful.

Has anyone ever witnessed someone talking in tongues. A language that no one else can understand even the person speaking these words. My latest experience is talking to someone near and dear just started speaking in tongues while I asked for them to pray for me. I prefer not to say who...but I know for a fact this person has done this before. It's awesome to witness and just wondering if anyone else has been a witness to this?

I know it's a higher level but not sure where it would come from since I haven't done any reading up or reasearching.

I have to say i have never witnessed it. I find anything like that extremly interesting... talking in tongues, backwards, or in unlearned languages.

When I was in India, my mom took me to a lady's house who did that. She would talk in tongues, backwards or some another language she didn't know. And, she wouldn't look like her either. she used to do fortune telling. It was quite interesting

This was a really neat experience. Hearing the language was like something I needed to hear at that moment. I have no clue what was being said but I felt very reassured and loved at that moment. I'm not sure how to even describe it.....very uplifting and peaceful and full of light and understanding. LOL. I guess everything positive you could imagine stuck into a few sentences.

I speak in tongues while in prayer. I never found it to be out of the normal because durring my childhood upbringing, most of whom I attended church with did so as well.

It is definently very powerful and although I do not know what I am speaking; I also usually receive a feeling of acknowledgment, peace, or whatever I'm needing within that moment. For me, I do not think of doing it, I just start to speak it.

I have witnessed others interpreting what someone else had just spoken in tongues. One of you had mentioned that it's as if you are in another state of mind. The person interpreting seemed to be as well. I do not remember the jist of the interpretrations as I was probably 10-12 years old and I didn't quite grasp the extent of what was occuring.

Many say they gain the ability of speaking tongues when finally filled with that of holy spirit, the highest and the most devine within us. I don't remember my first time but once I did it, it has never left me.

I have had 2 experiences with someone talking in tongue to me directly. It always sends a sense of extreme amazement and peace through me. I had a dear friend comforting me one day when I truly needed it and out of nowhere this language I had never heard before just starting spilling out of her. It was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. It happened again to me today when we were in a deep and serious conversation. It's like she didnt even know she did it. She never even reacted or said anything about it afterwards. I cannot explain what a feeling that is. I looked at her right afterwards and said "what did you just say?" and it was like she didnt even hear me. what an awesome thing that is. It's like when it happens, you just KNOW it's a higher and beautiful thing.
