Default Why can't you remember my name?
I have a very strange thing that happens to me all the time. When I'm in groups, or have just joined something, people can never remember my name, even those who are good at remembering names.

I can't think what this may be about. Do you think my Mum chose the wrong name? Am I supposed to pick a new one? Is is that if I'm not properly grounded people don't 'see' me properly and can't remember me?

I'm not quiet in groups - it takes me a while, but when I feel comfortable, I'll quite happily speak up, and will even begin discussions as to what's going on.

Any idea folks? Or am I just the kind of person people forget?

Maybe your name is one of those names... not odd enough to be taken aback by and not common enough for someone to go 'oh another...'
i have a similar thing happen to me. My name is Erica but i have an unusual amount of people call me Rebecca.
At many jobs i've had since living in England i've been referred to as 'Rebecca the irish girl or rebecca the scottish girl'
i'm erica the canadian!! lol
sometimes i do wonder if my mother chose the wrong name lol.
do you think it could have something to do with not being grounded properly?

Mm.

It could well be. Maybe something I should utilise when alone walking at night...!

My name's Emily. My middle name is Louise. I often think I should use that instead!

I was thinking about this question and tried to do a name search on the web to see if I could get some kind of an answer but nothing I found gave any answers so I stopped looking. I was going about my business and it kind of hit me....perhaps it is not actually your name but how you first present your name when you are introducing yourself.

I would elaborate, but I think that if what I am saying rings true to you, just a bit of reflection will be necessary to determine what kind of a change is needed. But I really do not think it is the name that is causing this.

I personally think Emily is a lovely name.

Electricblueangel,
as I am reading your post (and not yet scrolling down to read the next post) I felt that you have to be an "emily" and sure enough as I scrolled down there it was in your next explaination.

therefore, you are ment to have this name, it is a common name, but a beautiful one for sure. Emily, this name is a keeper don't change it. Your mama named you with love for her new baby girl! enjoy it.

((((hugs)))

Aw, thanks SeRenDiPiTy7! That's a nice thing to say. I've never disliked my name. I think it's very pretty. Mum was going to call me Rainbow, so I guess i got off lightly.

OoMABoO - I'm not sure we should be robbing banks , but it's a funny thought. We could flash mob, and people would never remember who started it LOl!

I wonder if it's because Im on my last few cycles here, and peopel I meet know me as other names from other lives.

Seriously though, it happens in every group situation i'm in. I tell people now, just before someone has to remember my name and they're constantly surprised!

I have found that a name is a wonderful thing but I think the most important thing is what impression you have left once you leave the room or place. It's important to remember someone's name but it more important that a person remember you; the name will follow.

You want me to email you? lol!

That's a good idea - it actually doesn't bother me that people don't remember it, I find it funny that it happens. My husband usually remembers it, so that's ok. (ALthough he did once call me by his ex's name at the beginning of our realtionship - but her name was Emma so I'll let him off!)
