I hope this is in the right place.
The other night, I was trying some mirror scrying. To be fair, I was listening to a brainwave generator with the headphones on the entire time. So anyway, things got interesting. The only problem is, while I saw results, I'm not sure if I should try again. Everything I've read has said that you will see the mirror/crystal ball/water, etc begin to cloud. This is not what happened to me. I saw the haze, but it was almost like it was touching my eyes and my skin and definitely was not just causing a smokey affect to the mirror. I could feel the thickness of it. I got a few pictures of a black woman. No idea who that was, but I found it interesting. I finally got scared as I felt like I was starting to slip into more of a trance state than a state of deep relaxation, so I decided to stop for the night. (I'm still not sure how I believe about evil/demonic entities, so I'm wary of letting myself be vulnerable, I guess) Last night, I really wanted to try again without the brainwave thing playing, but I ended up being so tense and nervous that I just couldn't even start. Has anyone else done scrying? Did the object haze, or was it more tangible than that? Bah. I don't know what I'm going to do. I really want to keep going with this, but I also am a little afraid of it. |

I have practived scrying for some time. I utilize either a quartz crystal ball or a bowl of water with a candle behind it. My first reccomendation to you would be that you use some form of protection prior to srying. You mentioned that you were wary about certain entities, as you should be. Under the Lessons Section, I believe there are some proctection exercises, or you can PM me and I will share with you some of the ones I use.
In the beginning, most of what I got was hazing. Now I get shadowy images that I can make out, even though they are not clearly defined. Some of the clearer images I have been able to receive have almost been "flashback" scenes with different endings,..if you know what I mean. Next to Tarot, scrying is one of my favorite forms of divination. For me, it took a long period of practice and meditation. I can not over emphasize how important the protection piece is for me. It keeps me centered and more relaxed. Fortunately, I have never been in a place where I felt uneasy or threatened. I always believed that scrying should be relaxing and plesurable. Feel free to PM me with any questions. In the meantime, stay patient, protect yourself, and keep trying |

Thanks, Marianne. I think that's where I got worried. I'd attempted to use protection, but I wasn't really secure that it would work so I started to worry that it hadn't and that I was opened to negative things. Then I got scared, etc. I really enjoyed the experience up until that point, and have been wanting to try again. I'll have to just keep at it. I assume confidence in the process comes with practice as much as results come with practice and patience.
I'm not great with visualizing, and so I have a prayer of sorts that I say for protection. It feels 'right' to me, but that was the first night I'd used it and my lack of confidence that it was enough is what I think made it a scary experience. (I hope that makes sense) |

Hello..I was just wondering, how often is it alright to do scrying? How much time is okay to put in between each time you practice, especially when your really new to it?
I've practiced twice so far.. Once yesterday and once today.. I just wanted to know just incase those times were too close together..I have been trying to practice protection too. I've been thinking about it for awhile now, and finally decided to just do it. I tried the bowl of water with a candle(I also tried dropping an amethyst stone in to help me focus) and the bowl disappeared while I was concentrating into the haze. I couldn't get my eyes focused on the one spot with out looking past it or away from it. I'm not sure if this is right or not, but I'd like to understand. Anyway, back to the original question... I used protection both times, I'm not sure if it was right or not...I know that you'll probably feel like something is running down your cheeks, I've done it before. A friend of mine said I was cleansing but I didn't know. I felt it much more the first time then I did these last two times. So how often is it alright to practice? |

To the best of my knowlgedge, there is no set "amount of times". I find that n order to do any spititual work, I have to be in the right mind set for myself,..mentally and spiritually. Sometimes I will attempt scrying inan effort to reduce some type of state of confusion and go in search of a sign. But I don't become dependant on it. For expample, I don't utilize scrying everytime I have an issus and want an answer. I don't think it would work for me when used in that manner.
I think it s very smart you are using smoe method of protection. You aslo might want to try centering yoursefl before proceeding with even the protction. If you are not familiar with any techniques, there are quite a few under the psychic development section in LESSONS. Sorry, I can;t give you a definitive answer, but like I said I really don't know of any number. Blessings~ |

I agree that there's no set time for when. Sometimes I practice several times a day, and sometimes I go a few days between. It depends on how I'm feeling. I won't scry when I'm tired, or emotional. -- I'm still learning protection as well, and worried at first that it wasn't right. The more I practice, the more I believe that no protection will work if you don't believe that it will. It's not a matter of right or wrong, but what you can get behind and really believe is protecting you.
