Default Your first reading for a Client.
I'd like to hear of personal experiences from some of you who have given a reading to a client that you did not personally know. I want to hear experiences, feelings, emotions linked to your first professional reading.

why?

I have been attending a psychic medium group now for about 3 months. In our last meeting, we were all given an opportunity to Channel our classmates guides. My instructor called on me to be 2nd. I was so nervous but stood up, shook it off and actually did it! Not only did guides come through with messages but so did entities and my classmates all gave me great feedback and confirmations. My instructor told me I burned a whole through the carpet and wished he had had a tape recorder because I took on the identity of the guide coming through as I spoke.. I did not even realize I did this.

WELL.. He has since decided to start a Monthly psychic fair that will allow up and coming readers the opportunity to give readings to walk-in's who attend the fair. It will be made known to the individuals that we are just starting out and have not read professionally before. I responded in e-mail with, "I'd love to but the thought terrifies me. What if I freeze?"

His words, "You Freeze ???

Plu - ease ...

You'll rock the house Girl ..."

So, obviously he has confidence in me. I'm sure with the help of my guides I could overcome the fear but I'd like to hear what others felt when they gave their first reading. I'd like to know what it's like and how you overcame your fear of speaking exactly what you were being lead to say to someone you've never met before.

I overcame my fear in class by drawing peace to myself and I'm sure it helped that I was surrounded by people that even though I don't know them personally, I've seen their faces and I also found comfort in knowing they all were feeling nervous as well and in the same spot so they'd understand if I froze or freaked out which thank God I didn't.

Thanks!

I don't do the types of readings you do, I do oracle card readings for free as I'm just starting out myself. I am in no way as experienced as I someday hope to be. I understand you being nervous. I would be too in your position (and am when I do my readings), as I think everyone just starting out probably has been.

Several times tonight I have had in my head what one of my Trust Your Vibes Oracle Cards says. Fake it till you make it! Pretend you're someone who's confident and self-assured. Imagine you're experienced and have tons of successful readings under your belt. (Although this may be easier said than done!) It may be hard at first, but soon enough I think you'll forget all about the fear and feel relaxed. Besides, I'm sure the people you read for will be just as nervous as you are. The first reading may be the hardest, but after you get a positive confirmation you'll be so happy that you'll forget all about your fear. Also remember to trust your abilities (I keep having to remind myself to do this)!

Good luck!!!

(Sorry for a response that seems all scattered. (At least to me it does.) It all wanted to come out at once and I just couldn't get it to make coherent sense. I get that way sometimes!)

Sharing some of your anxieties with the person, from the very beginning, such as "Excuse me, I'm a little nervous, this is the first time I've read for an *official* client before ..." might break the ice a little bit. Humble is endearing. For me, unspoken things are the absolute WORSE. I feel much better if I say my fears out loud, get it all out into the open. The sooner I can release that anxiety out from the pressure valve, the better.

Having a bit of a chat first, so that you can get the sense of the person, might help too. (Not a prying chat but a more generic sort of chat).

And remember .. it's your sensitivity that makes you a perceptive medium. SO embrace it. The worse thing that can happen is that you are wrong. So what. People know that you are just starting off, "up and coming", and that psychic readings are recreational (and not intended to be medicinal/God's word/etc.) So have fun with it.

Yes I agree with rubberducky its amazing how people are sympathetic if you say you are new at this and this is your first time with an audience. I think you will do well and the first time is always the hardest.

I use this line all the time when I start new jobs and Im on the phone with someone and people just accept it and people dont judge you or get mad cause most people have been their themselves.

You have strong guides who wont let you down because this happened for a reason and they let you down this path and I think you felt that all along. Dont worry you will be fine.

Good luck

Hi Crystal

You will be great! That story that you just told is indicative of that. Do what you did - just shake it off and away you go -

Believe in yourself - We all believe in you xxxx

Thanks for all the great replies and support. I love this forum.

When is this psychic fair? has it been already?
P.S Im always amazed at mediums
Mecca…… You already are a medium goofball. All the stories I’ve read from you, come on now, You have it naturally. The Spiritualist Church that my group is held at holds psychic fairs once every couple months but the fair for the new readers has not been scheduled yet. He wanted to make sure he had enough participants before scheduling it.

Here’s 1 link I used. I brought you to the page you will need to make it a little easier but if you search by City, you can pull up more than what I pulled up just by looking for psychic groups in general. Sign up and then you can join a group to view the contents and members. If you don’t want to remain a member, you simply cancel that group. There is no limit to the groups you join and once you join, you’ll have access to meeting itinerary’s, comments from the members and dates the groups are held and where. I’ve found quite a few in my area and asked my guides to lead me to the correct group. They did! Lol

Thank you Witch for this. You are completely right. It’s almost like “The secret.” Believe it and you will see it. I always have to remind myself too to trust in my abilities. I’ve gotten better at doing so and now I’ll need to master trusting them when it comes to actually speaking out what I see instead of keeping it inside. Lol.

Thank you for your advice as well Rubbyducky. That is a great idea. I’m the type person who hates to hold my fear in so I often blab it out. This would probably be a very good tactic for me to use. Thanks!

You are right Rosemary. My guides and angels have always been there for me. My instructor who is a professional psychic/medium told me that 1 of my angels by the name of Francine is very large and very powerful. I was floored when he called her out because I’ve received the name Francine in a meditation before and was a bit confused as to which one she was because the other female I’m familiar with is a guide and her name is Laura. My instructor said that Francine pretty much is my gate keeper at the moment. She allows me to see when the time is right but not all the time simply because there are other things in my life right now that she is working on with me too and does not want to overwhelm me. (this came when I had asked my instructor for hints on how to open my medium skills fully back up like they used to be) I was speech less as he said some more things that were right on the dot and Francine would have only known them. So just from hearing that, I received great confirmation as to how active they are in my life and how much they care about my success in the psychic and worldly realms.

THANKS DEE! Thanks to all of you. What a great post that was to end it. “We all believe in you.” And that is why I felt most comfortable coming here and posting the question that I did. You all are so open and accept people just as we all are. It is a very welcoming environment and I’m glad I found this forum.

I am completely unable to give first hand comments as I have yet to even meet my spirit guides although I have no doubt they are there awaiting my readiness! I am also waiting to join a weekly development group that a very good friend of mine attends & who Im commenting with regard to our conversations.

Ive known my friend for approx 20years & yet did not have a clue she was spiritually aware and had been since she was a child.

Its only been around a year Ive been aware and the reason being she was made to feel weird!! Although I am yet to develop my physic side, Ive never doubted that it exists from a very early age.

My friend & I talk regularly about her development (which is way further than her 1st reading, which I might add would never been carried out for money!)

There have been frequent times when she feels extremely nervous to put it bluntly but it always occurs b4 a significant development within her path.

What Im trying to say is that the nerves and fear are all for a reason, its fear of failure when deep down you already know you can do it!!

Well, if you have never doubted since you were young, then I would say that naturally you are more inclined and since you are following your interest in it, you will surely develop at the pace you are destined to follow.

Thanks for your comment. It's been quite a while since I've come into this forum... not to say it's because I do not miss it! On the contrary. I've actually just taken a little "break."
A little break that is allowing me to fully cleanse myself and inner emotions so that when I fully return to my calling, it will only have positive results. (We don't need our negative garbage energies burried deep inside us to ever accidentally mix with the peace and love we are trying to send to our client..... [raising my eyebrows])

God has intervened with a few things in my life and let me tell you...

When you think you have something figured out, you will learn that you really did not! The spiritual journey is so amazing and in depth. It's intricate, complex and extremely interesting.

Even though it is fun to play with our psychic abilities, the best part is by far the journey you embark upon all alone; just you, God, your guides and your angels.

Hmmmm... Instead of focusing so much on what you want to attain with your psychic abilities, start focusing on reconnecting with your inner soul, the part that knows all and connects us to this special side. I might guess that you'll be pleasantly rewarded. (wink)

Pick up this book.. "Awakening the Soul" by Bill Missett. Read it, take each word to heart and learn how to reconnect. Take each step as a personal soul growth experience and watch it to start to unfold.

Bravo to you! You say you have not met your guides but in fact you have! They are what guided your thoughts and interests directly to where they should be.

Peace and light to you on your unfolding adventure. Enjoy the ride...

I practiced on a girl from Yahoo Answers before and recently I practiced on a girl on another forum and I didn't do so well.

I'm thinking of trying a different type of divination to see if I can do it better.

Runes.

What does clairsentient mean?
Sensing through feelings. Like feeling choked if someone was strangled that you are connecting with. Feeling sadness or joy.

Ok my first was really unusual. I never ever thought I would do this as a business.

I was in a salon getting my hair colored. I had a coupon to try this new salon down the road. I sat with a girl named Lauren, oddly enough because my name is Laura and people sometimes call me Lauren.

We just started chatting as most hairdressers do with clients. While she was coloring my hair I started to hear all kinds of messages. So, I said. "This may sound odd but is your grandfather deceased?" She said yep. I said "Did he look like ...." She stopped and just looked at me. I explained I had been a psychic medium since age 5 and well this man had things he needed her to tell her mom and her aunt. We created a great bond That's when my business began! Her aunt OWNED the salon and started booking me for readings! I did fund raisers and employee appreciation nights, etc. Then word of mouth traveled and I started reading for bachelorette parties, candle parties, etc.

I am ALWAYS nervous! Afraid I won't connect Its natural! I too channel and do not remember even what I have told my client

Hugs

Laura
