That's weird... you have CAPTCHA during registration, so it must either be human beings doing it, or there are actually some bot programs that can break through image verification.

I have a forum that runs on PHPBB and it was a long tough battle to finally get rid of most of the spambots on there. We finally came up with a "question and answer" type CAPTCHA system and that got rid of 99% of the bogus signups.

Still, even the best CAPTCHA method won't stop human spammers who are just trying to boost their site rankings by signing up on any forums they can find and posting their site links.

For anyone who's curious, CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Touring (test to tell) Computers (and) Humans Apart. A Touring test is a test to see if an AI system is a human or a computer. If a computer can fool you into thinking it's a human, it's passed the Touring test. A CAPTCHA test is the opposite.

Best of luck to you... what a drag having to stay one step ahead of the losers out there.

Oh yeah, one other thing we did was made a script that puts a hidden field in the signup that the user won't see, but a script would see it. If the script tries to fill out that particular field, it bans them instantly. That really helped too.

Hello to all current and new members....wot she said!!!!!

I have just had a massive clear out of all the spam that we have received and can only apologise if any of it has caused distress.

We try to make this spiritual journey a happy one for all forum members...even if our own paths have moved us away for a while....this is still our home!
