I was diagnosed bipolar years and years ago. In fact, I am on disability because I cannot function properly because of the mood swings.
My ex husband is very ill and I took him in a year and a half ago. His illnesses are extreem and critical, but he does have good days when he can go fishing, to the park, etc.
Recently, I watched a program on psychic children and it said they are often misdiagnosed as ADD and bipolar. I have begun to notice things about my own mood swings.
Yesterday, for example, everything was fine and I suddenly felt an overwhelming desire to cry. When I told my ex, he said he has been very depressed (because of his limitations). Soon after, he went to the store with our daughter and, you guessed it, I was fine.
I also noticed when he is home, I tend to have much less energy and feel drained. I thought it was because of the stress of caring for such an ill person, but now I don't know.
Now I am wondering if "my moods" are not mine at all. If this is the case, how do I get control over them so they don't control me? Medication has never really helped with the mood swings and I have always fought taking it anyhow.
Any advice or suggestions? Please don't suggest I send him away or have him placed in a facility. We have a child together and he needs to be with her in his final days weeks or months. Thank you, in advance.

hi tishsuz, when you have these moodswings, try to go off somewhere on your own, like the bedroom, and sit quietly and ask, is this me? or is this something else? , if you practice you might be good at deciphering it, for me the feeling of say insecurity will come on stronger if i say someone else. But other times i cant decipher.

Now what i do is say, well this isnt mine, i wonder what has just happened to some-one. It helps me instantly. if its mine i should know why shouldnt i???

I only realised last year it wasnt me, and ive had the feelings since i was a kid.

Mine come in strong if there has been an aeroplane crash and alot of lives are taken.

I have a fear of heights, this may come from a previuos life, so the energy of a falling plane may resonate stronger with my energys, therefore i can pick it up easier. JMO

And you should be commended for your caring soul, to take care of your ex, is a fantastic thing to do, it shows your warm heart.

I used to have the ability to feel anything that happened to my soon to be ex-husband. I usually had no clue on most of the details but things got clearer as I became aware of this ability. I used to believe that it was just me until he had an accident and hurt his foot. He was 14,000 miles away and I spent the night in excruciating pain that started at the time of the accident. It takes time though for you to be able to get used to it. Good luck.

Thank you for your posts. I have noticed a difference in my stability since I've backed away from people who were bringing me down. I wish more doctors were open to this type thing. This would have been very useful years ago
