I had an experience that I have had before but this time it was very powerful. I was laying down in a trance state, then my 3rd eye started to activate very powerfully, I could actually feel my 3rd eye area moving around, this is because I was receiving and sending. I started to hear voices, one man came in, he sounded Indian from India, I said hello and he said hello back, but I couldn't hear him that well then the connection with him was broken, then these girls came in, very young, they sounded like children, I asked them for their names but they didn't feel comfortable telling me, one of them did give me her name, when I came out of my trance I couldn't remember her name, I have to learn to keep a piece of paper and pen near by.

I tell you this was the most exciting experience to date that I have had. When I came back my third eye kept going. Its really opening up a lot now. It was like I was a transmitter and receiver. I wonder if I would ever get to the point where I won't have to go into a trance to communicate, what do you think?

Wow, that sounds really amazing SoulTraveller. Do these new visions cause you any problems at all ? ie: when you need a nap but end up having communications with the white light spirits ? guessing part of your journey would be learning to control them ? sorry if this question makes no sense he.

That's wonderful to hear you're really starting to open up your gifts, SoulTraveler! It must have been an amazing experience, I'd love to be able to communicate with spirits and those on the other side. Some day, hopefully! Thank you peaceloveunity, well I am trying to find out how I am doing it. sophia doesn't think its a trance but I will use that word for now. I can see why sophia doesn't think its a trance because I wouldn't be able to remember it if it were. Maybe it isn't the same for everyone, its like that for Sylvia Browne, she can't remember anything while she is being channeled by Francine her main guide, but I can remember. Its like I become a transmitter and receiver and its evident because my crown chakra and my 3rd eye become highly activated and I can feel the transmitted energies coming through my crown chakra while it is happening. While it is happening I see the outline of faces in gray scale and then I say "hello" and they answer back, its so clear. First off, to peaceloveunity: I know you didn't directly ask me the question, but you said you were interested in "how people see and hear spirits", not just how SoulTraveler does. Thus my answer.

Also, to SoulTraveler, I'm not sure what "this" experience you mention really is; whether you mean the exact experience you've had, with the sensations you get when you're about to enter a "trance" or whatnot...I dunno. But I figured I'd share.

I have never found it hard to communicate with spirits. Before I ever reached out to them, they were not just reaching out to me, but grabbing at me like a mob of hungry fans grabbing at a superstar. When I was a child I think I might have actually heard them clearer, or at least in a different way, than I do today. I can't explain it. It was more as if I heard it with my physical ears. These days, I experience my communication with spirits in my mind; it sounds like a very, very clear thought that has been introduced to my brain, when they speak to me. I recognize it though; it's different, far different than a mere thought or idea I made up. It's distinct, clear, and has a different quality to it.

I do not try to communicate purposely with spirits other than my guide. I don't need to; they come to me, all the time, whether I want them there or not; negative and positive. I usually just tell the negative or neutral ones (they're most often neutral, but cause a feeling of creeping fear in me because of their emotions spreading to me; probably ghosts with something on their plate) to go away. I really don't want to bother with them...so I don't.

BUT!...I have communicated with plenty of them, over the years, when the right time and the right spirit has come along. I do not speak aloud, not usually, unless I feel I want to strengthen my message. I communicate by placing my thoughts out there for them to hear, then receiving their answers, and so on. It's second nature to me. I find it amazing how clear these "audio" messages can be, in my mind. I have encountered one or two non-human entities who let out an otherworldly shriek that was so incredibly loud in my head, it made me physically wince or even exclaim something aloud. Others have yelled, bringing similar reactions from me. It's like someone screaming in your ear, but...it's in your mind. Hard to explain.

As to the visual aspect...things are not as clear. If something smiles at me, I "feel" their smile, I don't really see it. I "feel" a lot more than I see. When I see, it's hazy or mere glimpses, or kind of as if in the corner of my mind's eye. I don't need a lot to grasp onto the ideas being presented to me, though. I hold onto those flashes, focus in on details, and am able to get what I need from them.

I guess I'd say my best senses are hearing and feeling, not physical feeling but emotional feeling. I often feel emotions oozing off of something. I have been told by a sensitive friend that I am an empath; whether that's true or not, well, I don't know for sure and probably don't really care. But since you probably want thorough explanations, peaceloveunity... when I feel someone's emotions, it is kind of like feeling heat from an oven you just opened. Your skin becomes hot, right? So if you didn't know there was an oven nearby, you'd think, "Man, I, myself, am hot." That's how it is for me. I can sort of follow this "heat" to the source, most of the time anyway, and see where it's coming from. If I don't, it's easy for me to think I'm just crazy or feeling things for no reason. A fellow 'gifted' person - a more experienced one, at that - said I probably feel a lot of my crazy emotions because of people around me. I need to work on being able to detect whether it's coming from me or not...

So there you go. That's how I sense things, peaceloveunity.

In addition: SoulTraveler, I don't usually do the whole trance-ish thing. I never had trouble opening up. When communicating with my guide, I can do it WHILE doing other things, I'm so used to it. Kind of like hearing someone talk to you in the middle of a crowded restaurant; you can still do it. The only time I'd ever say there's any kind of "trance" involved is when my guide and I mutually agree for him to do what I call "speaking through me". In this, my voice quality changes, my mannerisms even change...and my guide says whatever he wants to say, as if it's HIS voice coming through my vocal chords. I am cautious about this, and these days pray for protection beforehand (didn't know to do that before); and would never, EVER do it with another spirit. I do not trust any other spirit like I trust my guide. He has been consistent and faithful my entire life, and with that, proven himself worthy of the intimate relationship that goes on in these times of him "speaking through me".

SoulTraveler and EternalNight, thank you so very much for those insightful responses. It has really helped me to gain a better understanding of how these work for different people. Your explanation of how you sense their emotions, EternalNight, was also very helpful! The only thing I really had to go by was what I've seen on shows like Medium and Ghost Whisperer and they don't give a lot considering most people probably don't see solid-life like forms standing before them. Not that it doesn't happen, but I was just looking for some other accounts.

Anyway, that's really helped me look at it from a better perspective and I'm going to try to find some exercises on exploring with all my different senses. Might help me a bit! Good luck with your progress, SoulTraveler.

AS I just joined this group and was encouraged to post something, here it is.

When I was a teenager I would often drive to pick up my grandmother, who was a housekeeper at a Catholic parish in Salt Lake City.

I would always, always pull into the driveway and park toward the front, in the front lawn area.

But this one time I pulled in and for some reason I felt I shouldl move forward and park next to the rectory itself. Just as I opened the door and stepped out I glanced to my left, where I normally would have been, and saw a white panel truck come tumbling throught the air where I normally park. One person was ejected and I saw him get up and walk off in a daze. A second teen inside the panel truck was dead at the scene.

Had I not followed my intuition to move forward, I would have been struck and killed by that tumbling truck as I left the car.

to me when one gets deep into a meditative state you almost zone out. and actually vibrate at a higher state of being ...this is not actually what I consider a trance state

to me it is more liek projecting my mind into the 4th dimension instead of our third dimension reality that we reside in.......but you may. so am confused on that statement.

what i noticed is you did not ask any of these people to verify they were from the light ...you took them at fac e value and that can get you many false readings from beings that imitate the light. Soem are so good at it you cant discern the good from the false. Always ask them if they are 100% pure white light energy.If they cant say yes get rid fo them .

were you getting visions of these people at the same time ????????

Soul traveler you might want to start a journal of your experiences. Then six months or six years down the road you go back and read them again and go ...okay now I understand or that makes sense now.

either way it goes just relish and bathe in the glory of the experience.
All new experiences are awesome and mind blowing aren't they!
Sometimes you just don't have to understand them ...just enjoy the NOW of it

then sit tight and wait for the next one that shakes you to your very core and send you on a research mission to try to understand it . and often what happens its you dont find the answer to that one but the answer to one you had a long time ago instead..

Always ask your guide ...I think her name is Louise if you should start soemthing ...Guides will never steer you wrong....They will always tell you what is best for you at a given time ...If she feels you are ready for trance channeling she will train you in this before you actually start doing it from others.

I can always tell wehn the guides are teachign me someghign new...they do stuff with my eyes non stop and even when i try to stop it they wont let em ..Often it goes on for months at a times and it becomes obvious we are in a teaching learning faze from the guides...........

Well I don't know what it was, It has happened to me before and I don't know what word to place on it since I am unexperienced, so I am calling it a trance.

I will keep in mind of asking if they are from the light next time, It happens so fast that that didn't even cross my mind. I get into a state that I am lucid and I start to see faces, not in color but outlines of faces in a gray scale ,they move and blink their eyes. When I talk to them, they answer back, I hear them clear as day.

sophia it happened again. I went to take a short nap on my coach, all of a sudden my crown chakra and 3rd eye started up again. I started to see the face of a woman. I said "hello", she said "hello" back, I remembered what you said and asked "are you from the light", she said "yes I am". Then I asked "are you dead", she said "no I am not dead" and she stared to laugh, for some reason I felt that this person was a physical being because she came in so clearly, you are going to laugh at this one, so I felt that I was starting to fade out, so I told her to call me and I gave her my telephone number. I know you re laughing right now. I just felt like I was communicating with someone that is still physically alive, but then I was thinking that 'of course she isn't dead" her spirit is alive and well on the other side. I just asked the wrong question.
