...if all that is expected of us is to wake up to the greater reality of unconditional love, then i suppose it's not so bad... related to the idea of "the second coming of christ" seems some mention of another thing that may or not be related.
the best i can describe it seems a pendulum effect going between extremes of matriarchy and patriarchy. so early peaceful goddess cultures are largely thought of as matriarchal. this gave way to a patriarchal way with the advent of the old testament which seems to depict a severe "father lord." then jesus comes along. not much is written about his upbringing, but it seems easy for me to imagine that his father figure, joseph - had himself a very strict abusive father figure from which a pendulum effect occurred where joseph decides that this approach wasn't working and he himself adopts a more nurturing maternal way of relating to his son, jesus. so the incongruence between jesus' father figure joseph and the severe old testament "father lord" was reconciled by jesus' rebellius nature with his message of a "merciful father lord." hence, one of the new testament messages may stem from a sort of gender role switching effect that happened during jesus' impressionable childhood years, where joseph took the role of maternal nurturer, as matriarch wearing father's sandals. so related to a second coming may be such a realization: that when fathers can adopt a merciful matriarchal approach (subordinating a severe patriarchal way) then can christ appear. this reminds me of a saying which suggests "to enter the kingdom of heaven, first become like children." soup |
