Default Revised Tarot Deck
i have read on this site and the ra material that many of the cards in modern tarot decks have been altered from their original meaning and intent. to this point i am interesting in finding out if their is a tarot deck that reflects the original intent and meaning of tarot.

adonai!

it's an interesting synchronicity that you ask this question.

in the back of ra 4, they have the 22 major arcana of the egyptian version which ra states to be most like their original thoughts. a few days ago, i started redrawing these images to convey the same symbolic meanings but in a more swords/shields/magic/knights/armor style since i have a hard time resonating with the egyptian style. i've only done 1-5 so far, and they're sketched/drawn in my journal (i'm in ghana for at least three more months at the moment); i'm not a terribly good artist but i am proficient, and had silly thoughts in my mind that i might eventually try to get these "published" after much refining...

in short, the card images in the back of the book are a good start. if those aren't enough you can try to draw some yourself. if you can't/won't do that... then... if/when i finish "my" deck, and if it doesn't suck, i'd be happy to send you the scanned images?

as far as i am aware of, most commercially available decks will have these 'shortcomings' with the exception of some very early decks known as the tarot de marseille (tdm)'s, such as the noblet or the hadar. as far as the golden dawn tradition is concerned, the aleister crowley thoth tarot or indeed the hermetic tarot (by godfrey dawson) portray the most accurate symbolism.

i thought it was interesting that william henry described the four elements of destiny as follows:

"called the stone from heaven, the grail connects with the philosopher’s stone, the alchemist’s stone of transformation that exists at the meeting point of the divine and human.

in actuality, the grail has four aspects. it is a stone/sword/rod/cup of destiny. esoterically speaking, the grail is an all-purpose spiritual technology for transmuting the four elements, earth, air, fire and water, which its four aspects symbolize."

and then is the tarot a representation of the grail in order to transmute the four elements? and the stone of destiny has turned into the pentacle of destiny.
