Default Meditation Group?
the difference between watching a movie on dvd and watching a movie on television is great. with a dvd is just yourself and whomever is in your home. that's it. but when you watch a movie on television the audience shares a connection and even though you can't see the others watching, they are still there. that adds a new element to the viewing and changes it, just as watching a movie in a crowded theatre changes the experience. the power of those observers changes the movie. much the same way, a group of meditators could produce energy even if they were separated by great distances.

i mention this only because i'm interested in a focused meditation group. as this is my first post on this forum, i am uncertain as to whether this idea has already been suggested or is being practiced now. i wanted to know if there are any scheduled meditation groups on this site? for example, a group of people who choose a particular time to meditate on compassion or security in order to have focused energy.

knowing that others are doing the same as you could have a great effect on a person's meditation as well as building camaraderie among the participants. i would imagine that a site such as this might already have such a group set up, so please kindly direct toward that.

i am sure there are groups who meditate together. i would like to participate also, but, i must first meditate. i still have trouble clearing my mind. then again, i have too many distractions around me. i need to pull myself away from them and just sit there for how ever long it takes. >.<

welcome esoterica,

interesting observation and i see your point. thanks for sharing this idea and connection. i will be watching, viewing dvd, movies and tv differently, especially if the message is love.

one progam i watch week to week, is extreme home makeover. i just can not get enough. i love the loving being giving their selfs, the stories, the amazing homes they creat... its a big idea for only a few, but they do do a great job....... bring people together for a common cause.

group meditation: check in positive affirmations and prayers section.... "ready to move it up"

bring your joy and light !

esoterica,
i've been thinking about this too. there are approx. 2000 members here. if you've been listening to david, 7000 people can make a huge difference. we could start off slow... pick a time, pick a topic.... make it regular, like once a week or even once a month. then one auspicious day, we each include 3 friends and really make it stick i'm ready when you are.

[moderator wishes to suggest our positive affirmations thread if you haven't seen this already]

project camelot's future talk that was just released has david talking about groups of people being able to make significant changes and that when they meditate on security and compassion the murder rate decreases. i don't know how verifiable that is but i'm certain a group of people focusing their consciousness on a single thought at one time could help things out.

i really wouldn't want it to be anything too coordinated, much more freeform and open to all. i also post on several other sites and have started discussions there as well. so, if anyone is interested i will be mediating each night at 8:00 p.m. est. the focus will be on unconditional love, or as i term it, compassion. any and all are welcome. there is a start time but no set end.
