http://www.informationweek.com/news/...leid=206904531

he was one of my favorite writers of all time. we have been blessed to have him on earth with us for so long and to have had him contribute so much to our realities and imaginations.

one can only imagine the awesome experiences that he'd be having post-incarnation. if only he could send some e-mails about them!

the title of this post is quoting some dialogue from one of arthur c. clarke's "space odyssey" novels. those two sentences sum up the overall feeling i have for this man. he was a fabulous science fiction writer as well as a positive-minded futurist. as a technical officer in the royal air force during ww ii, he worked on the first ground control approach radar. in 1945 he wrote an article entitled "extraterrestrial relays" which proposed using satellites for communications. perhaps this is something we take for granted today, but at that point in time i imagine it was quite a revolutionary idea.

though i am not well-read in his material, i did read "2001: a space odyssey", "2010: odyssey two", and "2061: odyssey three". i immensely enjoyed the films of the first two. in the third book i think i remember the crew landing on a comet. this blew my mind at the time and helped open my thinking to much more than daily mundane affairs. i definitely have felt powerful positive vibrations from having experienced these works, which i believe are a direct extension of this man's love for humanity.

i should probably note that there is a fourth book in the odyssey series: "3001: the final odyssey". perhaps now would be a good time to read this for me.

wherever you are, arthur, you are loved. thank you for being you!
