Default Hints of an Ancient Era
i've recently been studying buddhism on my own, for the sake of gaining spiritual knowledge. in this really good book on the buddha i'm reading at this time (send me a message if you'd like the name/author), it mentions part of his realizations when he first achieves enlightenment, which in a way, paralleled some of earth's history that is mentioned in the law of one.

referring to his reaching enlightenment and the path/direct knowledge he had followed/received to achieve it, the book quotes:

if there is any truth to the story that gotama [the buddha] gained enlightenment at bodh gaya in a single night, it could be that he acquired a sudden, absolute certainty that he really had discovered a method that would, if followed energetically, bring an earnest seeker to nirvana [enlightenment].

he had not made this up; it was not a new creation or an invention of his own. on the contrary, he always insisted that he had simply discovered "a path of great antiquity, an ancient trail, traveled by human beings in a far-off, distant era." naturally, in the buddhist tradition, gotama was not the first 'buddha' in history - there had been other people who had achieved spiritual enlightenment and became buddha's in ancient times - gotama is just the most recent.

so...

i found this interesting, because it's just another example of historical texts mentioning ancient times of greater spiritual existence in earth's history. likewise, of course, the law of one (book 1) mentions human civilization in greater harmony with their spirituality tens of thousands of years ago in the first and second 25,000 year cycles.

anyone else find this sort of thing interesting?

peace,
john

i find it most interesting how there are people in history and in present day times who are not even known. it's definitely one of those things that trips you out and yet makes you feel not alone when you sit down to really think about it (which i've done).
