simple, but forgotten, "bless your food"
lets give back to the lifes that gives us our day to day energy and well being, in the form of food. may i ask each of you to bless the food that you eat. all types of food that once was living. just as we have given much needed attention and love to the animals of the sea, lets not forget the other creatures that god created that gives and sustains life. many animals and other living creations of god can be taken for granted, and perhaps forgotten for their unselfish acts of giving for others to live. i recently saw a piece related to the processing of beef and the uncaring, heartless acts against sick or weak cattle. it was so hard to believe and witness such a terrible lack of compassion for all of life during this man made process that involves time and money. we may not be able to fix or react to each and every unkind act, but we can give our own love by blessing each meal as we receive it day by day. thank you for your consideration in this matter. genesis 1:21 - 1:25 (even god blessed them) |

hi, rhonda
i agree with your thoughts! lets give back to the lifes that gives us our day to day energy and well being, in the form of food. may i ask each of you to bless the food that you eat. all types of food that once was living. snip we may not be able to fix or react to each and every unkind act, but we can give our own love by blessing each meal as we receive it day by day. i'm reminded that -- early on in my life when the food was being blessed, and thanks given to almighty god -- i couldn't help but wonder why we were not also giving thanks to the individual cow, or chicken, etc., who had their life experiences cut short in order to expedite our own. later on in my life i was touched by hearing accounts of how respectfully the american indians related to their food source. it seemed to me they had a more comprehensive view that filled in the gap between the micro and the macro. personally, if i ran into a group of hungry cannibals, i would feel somewhat better about the experience if they would include a prayerful nod concerning my personal contribution to the cusine -- beyond that of merely taking a short cut by giving all credit to mighty malukani, lord of the gastric juices for dumping me in their path. the whole concept of blessing has been gaining a lot of momentum especially by the works of dr. masaru emoto, author of "messages of water". ( david wilcock has discussed this subject) since water constitutes something on the order of 70% of our body weight, and goes through us like, well, umm...water, it is vitally important we make sure it is of the highest quality. an important aspect is to bless it. emoto found that merely using a positive inscription stuck on a bottle increased its quality multifold. this positively charged water even has benefits downstream in that it acts as a seeding agent in its ability to upgrade other water. i made a seemingly silly title comment about blessing bathwater. but, surprise, the idea must be taken seriously. our bodies absorb a tremendous amount of whatever from water...a quick shower can result in much more deadly chlorine being absorbed via our largest organ (skin ) than what we get through drinking. i would imagine that the same distinction could apply to the positive energy structuring blessed water....so, drink it and swim in it! i do use specially filtered water, and am now experimenting with a water ionizer (alkaline water) on my water filter cannister and all my water bottles, etc. i have taped on such mottos as love, peace, harmony, gratitude, kindness ... now, i may not have the spiritual density of a dr.emoto, but my good intention has gotta help somewhat. i recently saw a piece related to the processing of beef and the uncaring, heartless acts against sick or weak cattle. it was so hard to believe and witness such a terrible lack of compassion for all of life during this man made process that involves time and money. yes, that really tears at my spirit. someone mentioned that they don't eat anything that has a face. that's a nice sentiment, but some don't do well without meat despite good intentions. ghandi and his followers tried to eliminate flesh foods but that experiment was followed by disasterous results to their health ... but that is whole differet subject! so, be kind to our 2nd density friends....and that includes the bodies we are borrowing during this sojurn. it has been mentioned that our bodies are 2nd density animals, and the strange truth seems to be that they have sacrificed their life to facilitate our spiritual adventure. thanks for reading...billybob (the container part for butterball) |

we are all familiar with the power of focused attention. say a silent blessing, request that whatever you put into or on your body will do you no harm. infuse with love.
water has been shown to change after being blessed so why should it be different with anything other material? i read this suggestion a few months ago and have been applying/recommending it ever since. from junk food to whole food, i give thanks and pray that i will only benefit, and that no harm will come to me. blessings to all, (:-deeze |

great topic, rhonda. there was a time in my life when nothing would pass my lips without a silent prayer of thanks to god. since i left organized religion, that particular habit has become less ingrained, although i do frequently remember to be thankful... just have not been sure about where the thanks should be directed. your comments are absolutely right: let's give thanks to and for "all types of food that was once living".
and bbb's reference to masaru emoto's research on the messages of water is right on target, too. since reading emoto's fascinating books, i have put most of my drinking water into bottles labeled with "love" and "thanks" and some key geometric shapes and numbers. i also use colored bottles for storage (blue, green and violet) so the the water molecules will harmonize with the frequencies of those colors. you wrote: "i recently saw a piece related to the processing of beef and the uncaring, heartless acts against sick or weak cattle. it was so hard to believe and witness such a terrible lack of compassion for all of life during this man made process that involves time and money." i could not bring myself to actually watch that video. i was about to click on the start prompt, and i couldn't do it. i've seen slaughter house clips before and am overwhelmed with sadness at the cruel treatment of such gentle animals. i cringe and my heart hurts whenever i see trucks carrying farm animals to slaughter. something about it just seems so wrong. and, yet, i do sometimes eat meat....although much less than in the past. maybe, as we continue to raise our vibration higher toward 4th density, we'll be less inclined to need or want to consume meat. (actually, i think i might have read that in the ra material and will go check it out...) with love and light, nancy |

wow... what a great thread.
rhonda, i too recently saw that piece about the abused cows and it made me cry. sometimes i feel guilty for eating meat, especially what i buy from the grocery store because i have absolutely no control over the way the animal was treated prior to, and in the process of, contributing its life to be eaten. i've heard that meat can be contaminated just from the trauma an animal goes through, so blessing our food and the animal it came from is absolutely necessary. you mentioned billybob, that ghandi and his followers had some trouble when they cut meat out of their diets, and i did too! there are certain blood types that respond better to a vegetarian way of eating but that's not me... i was a vegan for about 18 months and i've never been more unhealthy in my life. i love animals soooooooo much so for me it pretty much sucks having to eat what i would rather just hug (that includes cows and chickens). i have a longtime friend who blesses her food and prays that it won't make her fat... she askes that the food be used in her body to bless and nourish it and whatever's not used to be eliminated. she's as skinny and cute as can be so i guess it really does work. and as for the water billybob and djdeeze, so true... "what the bleep..." showed pictures of those water molecules that emoto affected with his positive words. and when i was at the expo a couple of weeks ago there was a booth set up advertising a brand of water, can i mention it here? aquamantra, that has labels of love, health, hope and luck right on the bottles. the gal said they sell it at whole foods among other places. they were also selling sticky labels with "i am loved", "i am healthy" and "i am lucky" so that you could stick them on any container that holds water in your house. i bought the set of three for $5 but i suppose i could have just made my own they really are pretty though and i can taste the difference. very strange...but wonderful. blessings, kelly |

all, wonderful comments for us all.
i would like to think the overall conscious of one is being lifted with love by this simple act of opening our heart to express appreciation of life, all life. for... just in this moment of blessing, we are lifting the energy with our own divine, personal love that we are. and the universal force, responses. |

excellent thread! thanks, rhonda, for getting it started!
i admit that i do forget sometimes, but i do think it's very important. i've read something awhile ago that said that many times the animals are full of fear when they are slaughtered, because of the conditions where they are killed. the author said this fear gets trapped in the animals' flesh, and the only way to release it was by blessing the food. i was raised on a farm, so i guess i don't feel as guilty about eating meat. i've seen the young calves frolicking in the pasture, and thought to myself, if it weren't for us meat eaters, they would have never been born, and they would never have experienced life. however i did see the video about those poor animals, and there is simply no excuse for that. and i've seen the conditions that some chickens were kept in, and for that reason i always buy the free-range eggs, even tho they cost twice as much. if we can't give our animals a good quality life, then we have no business raising them. |

wow, this thread was just what i needed. i have been in a stupor- i used to love the simple grace my mother used to say at dinner:
bless us o lord and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty. i too, have neglected the practice, and i have read about the water stuff also. i will make up labels right away! the colored bottles is an attractive idea but i would caution that plastic is very unreliable as to safety - hormone disrupters/carcinogens now found to leak even out of nalgene. i personally have decided to go with glass, which supposedly increases the positive qualities of the water when exposed to sun, whereas with plastic it is quite the opposite and sun should never be allowed to shine on plastic bottles for long, as it increases the leaching manyfold. i am convinced that vegetarianism isn't really healthy, but i try never to buy meat that has come from factory farms. at restaurants that will of course not be the case - but i mostly go to the health food store hot bar and they have assured me no animals are overconfined. i buy only raw milk products from pastured cows. and the nutrient quality is much higher. ditto for eggs. only happy chickens. the person i buy my eggs from says she "lets the girls out to play" from about noon till dusk every day. i would be thrilled to live in a way that does not involve eating meat because i love animals so much, even insects. i feel sure 4th density will not require heavy food or heavy bodies. |

this is definelty a great thread, i have been lax on this issue too. i remember seeing all those videos on peta back in my early college years and wept, i was converted 100% vegetarian. this inspired me to work at a large pig farm, to see it from both sides. this was not easy, but i dont regret it either. i discovered that noone thier was inherently "cruel" but pig farming overall is a disturbing practice, just by the simple fact you have to make calls everyday on life or death.
i must have been blessed to be a blood type who can be a vegetarian wich i never discovered until now. or i have a cows stomach. but to be one you have to be smart, you cant just eat nothing but salads, or just x meat out, you will definelty be missing some essentials. im not saying its easy, but you have to research into specific nutrition of everything you eat. i have never felt better and for a solid year in college i was actually a vegan, and ate only whole natural unprocessed foods, although now ive lightened up a tad and will ocassionally eat farm raised fishes such as trout salmon and catfish (although i do think about the horrible deaths they endured). and skim milk in my cereal, for the simple fact that i was tired of all the ridicule, i didnt think being a vegetarian would offend people so much! im glad people are waking up to these often overlooked issues |

low fat milk! if you do this much research, then why not consider learning about raw milk? it is much cleaner and healthier, and by definition the cows are raised in pasture. someone in our local independent newspaper did an astonishing paper on the milk industry. did you know an american milk cow lives to only 4 years? a cow! they have only one or at most two offspring and they collapse.
can such milk really be healthy? human beings require fat. lack of healthy fat may be the biggest nutritional deficit in this country. the milk fat contains anticarcinogens and precious vitamin a. without the milk fat it is difficult to absorb the calcium. pasteurized low fat milk is a drag on the body. it's better not to buy milk products from confined and badly fed cows. the way i deal with this whole issue is to make sure that the animal does not suffer a bad life before being killed, or in the process of being milked. farm raised fish are often incorrectly fed, kept on antibiotics, crowded, and contribute to disease when they escape into healthy wild populations. when i went to the aquarium in atlanta they gave a speech asking people not to eat farm raised fish. just as the nutritional quality of factory farmed eggs and beef is ruined by modern techniques, so will fish be. the fat of grass fed beef is high in omega 3, as are natural eggs. the crisis of lack of omega 3 in our diets isn't really a flax oil deficit - it is caused by modern farming techniques. i apologize in advance for my opinionated tone. |
