Default Paranormal phenomena; is it my grandma?
over the last six months my partner and i have experienced a special kind of phenomena in our flat. our flat is new, build in 2005. we live in a studio flat. we first experienced these things in the summer followed by a quiet period, but right before christmas the phenomena returned and we had an odd experience that stood out. i am the one who mostly experience these things.

at the very moment i fell asleep i heard a noise from the kitchen, the cutting board, being slammed on to the kitchen surfaces. it woke me up and i felt a presence in the room and noticed a green and orange gloom in the room.
i felt that this presence wanted very strongly to communicate something. i woke up my partner and she went in to the kitchen. there she felt a cold energy at a specific place.

"coincidentally" i had earlier the same day, consulted a therapist who also work as a medium. a week after this experience in the flat, i had another appointment with the therapist. we talked about these things and he "contacted" who ever was in the flat. he claime to communicate with two old people he assumed to be my grandparents; my fathers mother, and my mothers father.
this recognition process was very vague and the things he claimed to be evidence of these two individuals is impossible for me to know anything about because i hardly knew them when i was i child and they were alive.

my "grandparents" came through with a simple and straight forward message that could suit most purposes, though my grandfather said something intriguing.
he said:"everything moves so quickly now", and made a point of it not being the technology, but time.
i was then given the opportunity to ask questions but was overwhelmed by the whole thing and failed to come up with any.

over these last few days we have experienced a lot of noise mostly from the kitchen. they seem to increase when i get aware of it and start to think about it.
last night we wanted to run a test an layed out som crayons and drawing paper. the same thing happened when i fell asleep, a particular noise woke me up and for a long while the kitchen was rather noisy. i stayed put in my bed and tried to remain in a state as close to sleep as possible. but no signs of things being moved or efforts to draw on the paper where made.

now to my question. i would very much like to know more about and whether this phenomena is my grandparents visiting me or something else. i would like to learn how to communicate with this phenomena, so please give me suggestions on how i can increase my ability to communicate with them. clues, techniques, litterature etc. is much appreciated.

hey love. it could be anything. if it is ghosts, you can never be 100% sure that it is your grandma or grandpa. there are just as many dead con artists as there are living ones.

:-)

have you tried writing down your dreams? i find that messages from dead loved ones come through most often in my dreams if i pay attention to them.

also, it is important to challenge spirits before getting into dialogues with them. look into the relevant literature for details on challenging entities. i can email you references if you like.

with a name like anupama i am guessing you come from an indian background. i could be wrong. however, if it is the case and if i remember correctly, cultural forces bias the indian death experience in ways that differ from the european one, at least in the early stages. you may want to look into that further as well, as there may be cultural factors at play here as well.

good luck, and remember: never explicitly invite a spirit into your life or trust it farther than you can throw it.

thanks to the mods for helping us out!

thanks johnasmodeus for your quick reply

in relation to my name, anupama, i am actually norwegian, but the name was given to me some years ago by a teacher. i have now left him, but i still use the name.
i have studied various spiritual traditions but never been very interested in the spirit world. therefore this is all very new to me.

i found it interesting that you say that there are con artists in the spirit world. it`s all felt a bit dodgy, and i would expect more profound communication and messages, if someone contacted me from the spirit world.

i very much appreciate som more information on reading material and so on. i will pm you my email adress.

thanks again

hi, anupama, what an interesting story!
in my personal experiences with non-physical entities, i've found telepathy to be the most reliable means of communication. they all have a kind of energy signature, and you can learn to kind of tune in to it. once you perceive it somewhat clearly, just pay attention to all the nuances and variations, and you can learn to receive messages this way.

there is usually some kind of energetic connection, and if the connection is to you or your family there is probably some thing that they are trying to communicate, especially if it happens more than once. however it can also be a connection to the place you are in. perhaps they lived there for a time and just like to come visit, occasionally even seemingly without realizing it.

i have at times addressed these entities when they appeared where i was living because i consider this 'my space'. often they are startled, almost as if they didn't realize they were still there. or maybe they were just startled when they realized that i knew they were there.

the loud noises suggest that they are trying to get your attention for some reason. perhaps they are indeed just old relatives dropping in to say hello, but if it happens more than once i would think that something more is going on.

one thing you could try is to have some type of voice recorder running when they seem to appear. sometimes you can ask questions and the answers can be heard on a recording, even when you don't hear anything at the time.

hi, would like to give this thread a little update.

we have now been using another medium that has comed to a very different conclusion. an it all comes down to the fact that we are living in a hotspot for ghosts and all sorts of energies wich are working there. so the nightly trashing of our kitchen has been related to a ghost thats actually have been hauntig an apartment close to where we live. but because we are sensetives, "she" dosent mind visiting us as well from time to time and trashing things up in the kitchen. wich when "she" where living had very good reasons for doing.

we have much faith in this lightworker that has helped us with this and other things. the reason being that things match so perfectcly well in what we are told. not just in this ghost case but in several matters.

so it was not enteties who where visiting us when we experienced theses typical paranormal phenomenons as we first where told by the first medium we used, but in that regard, that view has been very interesting for us. in the way that it has opend us up to see that there are both posetive and negative forces around us, and we have some very good things going these days in that comunication. we certainly have a loving and inteligent being visiting us. but "it" dosent care much to trash up the kitchen or scare us in any way. isnt there a saying that is something like this? "a poor teacher can at times be the best teacher". i think that suits this well.

why would grandparents begin to act like silly teenagers and try to frighten someone they knew and loved well (presumably)? maybe some souls are trying to get your attention and going the peace and light route would not be the answer. however, it could be someone you know who has not passed on who is using the obe technique either knowingly or unknowingly in their own dreamstate. sitting in the cold spot in the kitchen - overcoming your fear and meditating face on might cure it. there is only your own fear to face - i speak from experience.

best of luck
