dear friends,
http://www.ktvu.com/news/15054540/detail.html be well, be love. david has e.t. made a call? posted: 10:55 am pst january 15, 2008 berkeley, calif. -- across the globe, researchers searching for signs of life in space were abuzz this week with word that a mystery signal has been picked up by a giant radio-telescope in puerto rico. now the dilemma is -- how do you answer it? dan wertheimer of the uc berkeley seti project, said the dilemma is compounded by the fact that the signal may never be completely decoded. "we probably won't be able to decode it," he said. "we'll know something's out there, but we won't know much about their civilization." |

the report is back albeit updated. here is a possible explanation.
http://www.unm.edu/~market/cgi-bin/archives/002519.html scientists detect lowest frequency radar echo from the moon a team of scientists from the naval research laboratory (nrl), the air force research laboratory’s (afrl’s) research vehicles directorate, kirtland air force base, n.m., and the university of new mexico (unm) has detected the lowest frequency radar echo from the moon ever seen with earth-based receivers. in the lunar echo experiment (more properly called a lunar bi-static radar experiment), the air force/navy high frequency active auroral research program (haarp) high power transmitter, located near gakona, alaska, launched high power radio waves toward the moon. the reflected signal, weakened because of the long distance to the moon and back, was detected by receiving antennas in new mexico. |

it's back!
posted: 10:55 am pst january 15, 2008 updated: 5:53 pm pst january 16, 2008 berkeley, calif. -- on monday, ktvu reported scientists have received an odd signal from space and some readers may have interpreted this as a confirmed extra-terrestrial contact. scientists did confirm there was an anomalous radio signal and reported it late last year. however, as seti@home lead scientist dan werthimer now clarifies, "although this pulse is not well understood..." it may have a natural origin. seti institute chief scientist seth shostak says the highly energetic and brief signal at first excited some researchers, who at the time thought it may be a candidate et signal. it was received not at arecibo, puerto rico, as reported, but rather in australia. the signal has not been confirmed as any sign of extra-terrestrial intelligence, although the allen array in california is now actively searching for more of these signals. |

dear friends,
article from linda moulton howe concerning the mystery message. http://www.earthfiles.com/news.php?i...tegory=science be well, be love. david mystery radio burst from outer space © 2008 linda moulton howe “the sudden burst of radio energy lasted only 0.005 seconds, and had spectral characteristics that suggested that it was from a distant galaxy, probably billions of light-years from us." - seth shostak, ph.d., seti institute january 16, 2008 oakland, california - this afternoon, ktvu-tv channel 2, removed their earlier report quoted below and by tonight, a correction was posted saying the mystery signal had been recorded by an australian radio telescope (confirmed now to be the parkes radio telescope) and that the complex signal is still being studied. yesterday, ktvu-tv in the san francisco bay area, reported: “across the globe, researchers searching for signs of life in space were abuzz this week with word that a mystery signal has been picked up by a giant radio-telescope (arecibo) in puerto rico. now the dilemma is -- how do you answer it? dan werthimer of the uc berkeley seti project, said the dilemma is compounded by the fact that the signal may never be completely decoded. ‘we probably won't be able to decode it,’ he said. ‘we'll know something's out there, but we won't know much about their civilization.’” see: ktvu-tv. |

they had seth shostak from seti on the coast radio show, for about an hour last night. they also played a short clip of an old edgar cayce recording they found. here's more from seth shostak; has a seti signal been detected?
january 16, 2008 by seth shostak, seti institute a news story from television station ktvu, oakland (california) that appeared on the internet on january 15 has led some to believe that a credible radio signal from space may have been recently detected - a signal that might be ascribable to extraterrestrial intelligence. this story, while obviously exciting, is somewhat misleading, and derives from some miscommunication between the reporter and dan werthimer, who runs the university of california, berkeley seti program.... the rest of the article at; http://seti.org/news/features/has-a-...n-detected.php |
