Default Questions about the Online Forum
i do love the 'clean' look of this new forum, but i was wondering if anyone has found a setting to have posts sent through email - otherwise my ability to read and enjoy the site content would be limited to nights and weekends. nice, but i'd miss that great blast of energy from taking a few deep breaths and reading some of the great insights that you guys have during the day.

if anyone comes across this, please speak up!

i have used the "subscribe to this thread" feature (at the discussion level) but the emails i get are simply notifications that a particular thread has been updated by a new post. the actual text of the post is not emailed. i am wondering if there is some admin setting you can change that changes the formats of these emails to include the text of the post instead of simply the notification.

i am in a similar predicament to mariange. while most companies are lenient with browsing email, browsing and/or participating in forums is typically considered goofing off at the job and i've witnessed a couple of workmates get fired because of that.

thanx a million!

when you subscribe to a thread, it sends you the complete text.

look in the options when you subscribe and you will find it.

also, there is an option to subscribe as a 'digest'... all posts are put into one email.

best to you!

i don't mean to be a bother , but i do not see any such options. when i go to a thread, and i select "thread tools" -> "subscribe to this thread", i get sent to a page that has two drop downs "notification type" and "folder". the "notification type" drop down has options like "instant notification by email", "daily updates by email", etc (which i've tried already). there is no option for "digest". also, when i go to "list subscriptions", there is also no way to choose options to send text via email. the "edit options" screen also contains no such option.

my thinking is that because i am not an admin, i do not see the same options that you do. i guess if this feature is simply absent for "junior members" i'll just live with it. i really do miss getting the group's posts in my inbox though. i lead a very busy lifestyle.

thanks again, apologies again for the bother

no bother at all. i will try to help.

when you subscribe to a forum you get the option to have the post/thread links emailed to you daily or weekly.

the forum subscribe is not a digest, (i.e. with the actual posts) but instead are links to the posts.

however, when you subscribe to a thread or a post, you get the actual text of the thread/post.

as far as i know, this is the only options that this forum software offers... however, i will continue to look to see if there are more options that i do not know about yet.

admins see exactly the same thing that users do except we have the option to moderate posts and configure the software.

i have 2 logins here.... one as 'admin' and the other as my name. my regular name login is a regular user just like you... and i've subscribed to the 2012 forum and get those updates regularly.

i've also subscribed to one of the posts inside of the 2012 forum and get that thread/post also. so i have had a chance to see first hand how it works.

both seem to work just fine... with the exception that neither one of the options is actually called 'digest'... it is in effect what it is when you subscribe to a thread/post.

hope this helps.

best to you!
