Default Post Astral Projection Dangers
Hey guys! I just had a quick question about astral projection. Are there any post dangers to astral projection? For instance, if anyone has seen the movie Paranormal Activity, where there is this demon following this girl her whole life, and her boyfriend messes with an Ouija board, and somehow that allows the demon to come into their house and terrorize them. The worry that I have is when I succeed in doing astral projection, or have done it a couple times, is there any dangers of experiencing demons or voices or of that sort in my normal waking life? I just thought about this a couple days ago, and I don't want those sort of things affecting me in the real world or possibly affecting my friends/family. As much as I would love to do this, the safety of my friends/family/myself in the waking world is more important. I would love Robert Bruce's take on this since he has dealt with Psychic Self Defense or anyone who has done a good amount of astral projection already. Thank you!

We do have posts in the forums about the dangers of engaging in any kind of awareness-opening activities. However, if you take a look at the PSD and PSNA forums, you will see that a lot of people (me included) learned conscious astral projection as a way to deal with the problems we were already experiencing.
The truth is that any practice that teaches you to be aware of your unconscious processes will allow you to see what is commonly 'hidden', what already happens outside of your awareness. However, I do not believe that learning to AP will cause any problems- it will simply make you aware of what is already there.
Movies such as the one you quote usually sensationalize a single incident, or a series of incidents that happen to one person (or one family, etc.) However, if you look at many of these types of movies, that are supposed to be based on 'things that happened' to someone, you will find that in a lot of cases facts get shuffled around depending on the artistic vision or ideological vision of the director/producer, and that gives a skewed view of what actually happens, and it's causes.

Yeah I mean right now I don't experience any sort of unusual voices or any scary demonic things, at least that I am aware of. There is alot of stuff I want to explore like Virtual Reality Projections, but I don't want anything odd to start happening in the waking world, that could possibly affect my friends/family, since I care about them alot.

You have to do a lot of introspective work. Astral projection will take you to the world of your beliefs, hopes, dreams, and nightmares. You will see what happens when your consciousness expands beyond the physical, and you will see things you didn't see before, hear sounds that may be scary, and even voices- although some will be your own self-aspects, some won't- and that is something that happens to all projectors.
When you project, you will meet other's created scenarios, collective mind scenarios, and your own psychologically-created scenarios. You will see other projectors, some aware, most not, you will see entities that you have never 'seen' before and will shape according to your beliefs and fears- you will encounter beauty and ugliness, beyond what you can imagine. Some will be overwhelmingly beautiful and sublime, some will be scary and demonic-looking- that can't be helped. Like the physical, the astral is populated with a variety of entities, some more 'dealable with' than others.
So if you are afraid of 'things that go bump in the night', you definitely shouldn't try any of this- because once the veil is lifted, it can't be 'unlifted'.

What do you mean about "the veil being uplifted"? I am totally ok with the whole experience and the possibility of encountering things in the astral world and all that stuff, i just meant like...when i return to my body, and then go about my daily life. I just don't want to start seeing ghosts/demons/spirits/etc everywhere I go, or if some demon tracked me down from the astral and started to attack my family/friends. I also don't want people to stay away from me because I start witnessing all this going on, or hearing voices. I was just wondering if it's like a dream and you wake up and you can go about your daily life... any input/experience would be greatly appreciated since this is the only thing preventing my from fully doing astral projection. thanks!

From my experience: When you go to the astral while conscious, you tend to draw more attention from "astral beings" then when you don't.
I believe we do project to astral also a lot while we are sleeping - then our subconscious and higher self are driving and they know what they are doing and how to stay safe. Of course some people do attract even then unwanted attention.

For example ghosts see the astral travelers and hope, that these people might be able to help them. So they start to follow them around. There have been some people coming to my place and when they had left again, I noticed a ghost/earthbound spirit, who had been following the person. This spirit told me, that he knew about 30 more who try to get attention of diverse astral travelers, but mostly get ignored. Anyway, these went to the light now, but there are lots more.
Some of these ghosts have learned to make annoying sound to irritate pets, some have learned to affect people. The more sensitive the person, the more effect they can have.

There is nastier stuff then ghosts (and also some that are much, much nastier), that might get attracted. Luckily the average astral traveler seems to be somewhat "boring" for the more dangerous types. But I do not know are you one of the "boring types". When I feel fear, I take it as a hint from my subconscious or higher self and listen to it.

What I suggest is, if you are really interested, first learn how to put up some wards in your practice room. That can be done with intention and focus.
Then, for starters stay in your room. As alternative, you can create a kind of garden in your mind - a safe place, and always project into this garden. It is a bit like staying in your own head.
In the safety of your room or garden contact your spirit guide and other helpers. Make sure that you feel comfortable with them - should they feel scary or in any way "off", then they might be impostors. It helps to fill yourself with joy and happiness before calling your "helpers", then it is usually the real helpers.

Before you venture out, learn from your helpers how to help the ghosts/earthbound souls and some basic protection. Always take one of your helpers along and listen to his/her advice to stay safe - they know the place. When something feels scary, better back away and talk about it with your helpers in your safe place.

Astral traveling is not just a dream, it is reality. Therefore it can affect your life and other peoples lives. But if you take some precautions, astral projection is fairly safe, just like material life.

well all i really want to do is go into my own realm i create with the virtual reality projection, so i would project into an image in my room and thats where i would be, i dont really want to go into the astral world and travel to all these places. i just want my own personal zone where i can experience alot of things and the such. would this still attract ghosts and spirits if i did it this way?

There are no guarantees, but that should be safe.
I would recommend you to ward your room for the projection. This can be done for example by imagining your room filled with a mist of light, which keeps all darkness out and keeps you safe inside. Imagine the walls, ceiling and floor form a safe cocoon around you.
There are many ways to ward your room, above is just an example I thought might be easy.
I also recommend to only project, when you are in good mood.
