December 29-30th 2009:
I woke late in the night or early in the morning. It was still dark out and I had rolled onto my right side to get comfortable. Out of habit, as I drifted off to sleep, I attempted an astral projection technique without the intention of astral projecting. I simply paid attention to my "state of mind" or "level of conscientiousness" and what it was going through as I fell back asleep. There was a sudden sinking-relaxed rush of physical sensation over my whole body as my eyes rolled back into my head (at the time I didn't realize it but I had just fallen asleep) and then I was no longer aware of my body. I was just aware of my visual sight: swirling green and gray/black lights (Robert Monroe calls this random synaptic activity) but in a calculated and detached manner I reminded my self that they (swirling lights/synaptic activity) were to be ignored and were of no value to my attempt at an OBE. The synaptic light show immediately died down into tunnel vision till my vision was a just small point of light in a field of black. That point of light immediately expanded back into my full field of view, as television static. Yes, I mean actual TV static.

At this point I think I was somewhat aware of the dream state I was in and at the same time could have easily gotten lost in a dream if not for the weeks of practice I've put into becoming aware of my pre-dream thoughts. The television static started flickering on and off, from black to static and back, and then I had the spontaneous urge to try "sitting up" in bed. (I'm not sure if urge is the correct word, it was more like a mixed feeling, a fluent curiosity and something akin to reflex)

I could see! Flickering images of my bedroom became aware to me, and from a distinctly different vantage point then from where I was laying. My body was facing the right and was curled up under my blankets, but I could see the wall at the foot of my bed and the marionette dragon I have hanging from the ceiling above the right corner of the foot of my bed as if I had pushed my self up with my arms and sat, propped-up in bed. The room was dark, but I could see everything as if the darkness didn't matter to my astral vision, there were no shadows or shades of light, just clear definition.

But my vision flickered back and forth from darkness to my new sight and I had only just realized that, it wasn't my vision that was flickering but my conscientiousness it's self when I found my self back in my sleeping body. My awareness had been jumping back and forth from my physical body, which saw nothing but the back of my eye lids, to my astral form, which had been half sitting-up in bed, half inside my physical body.

This revelation, or recognition of my physical body or of my physical awareness, brought me strait back to my sleeping form; which was being bombarded with insane electrical screeching sounds, a rushing, trembling physical sensation (like being on an old wooden roller coaster) and stuttering, haggard breathing, all while being totally paralyzed. I remembered a trick Albert Taylor wrote in his book Soul Traveler about wiggling your little finger to instantly return out of any astral projection/OBE experience your having. I wiggled my little finger a few times and found my self awake in bed and laying on my right side, remembering everything.
