Well, My step brother died of cancer when he was 5 about 3 years ago, a couple days after the funeral I had a dream. In the dream i was in the basement of my house with my friend chasing some Black panther around, making sure it didn't go up stairs, Then all the sudden a tall dark figure appeared must have been at least 6 feet tall ...maybe taller even. In front of him was my step brother, he was glowing and his hair was a golden color, He held open his hands and handed me a green and pink skipping rope. Then i woke up. I told my mom about the dream and how he handed me a skipping rope. This shocked her because at the hospital before he died...he said he wanted to tie his mom to him with a skipping rope so that he did not have to go with out her. Which is something that I never could have known..no one told me about it. Just wondering if maybe that was him telling me he was ok now? and he didn't need it?

A about 2 weeks ago our cat was put down, a week later i had a dream of my step brother handing me our cat, and i was holding him and he was purring and everything. In my dream i called my boyfriend over to see the cat, and when he came over he said there was nothing in my arms...and that he couldn't see it? I got so upset by it.
Do you think that this is my step brothers ghost visiting me? maybe I am more open to it in my sleep?

I have read that when we interact with the departed that it's not them coming to our dreams, but 'us' going to that area in the astral where they are, and we process it as a dream. I think that this is what you experienced in the first ocassion, and the basement was your interpretation of 'going to this other area'. So yes, I think this was him probably.
BTW, I'm sorry for your loss both times.
