Default Falling asleep
Hello everyone!

The only time that I currently have to practice OBE is at night before sleep. I have been able to get myself to the mind-awake/body-asleep state a couple times and have even reached the vibrational stage once. My problem is that I usually fall asleep when I am practicing....usually shortly after starting. I lay on my back and calm my mind, focusing on relaxing my whole body. When I have achieved sleep paralysis, I try to focus on vibrations in my body, willing them to come. This is usually where I nod off.
Do any of you have any suggestions? I would appreciate any help!
I am currently not doing amy form of energy work. Would this maybe help?
Thank you so much!

Sure, a couple.
First, get enough sleep. That means if you have to cut down your attempts to twice a week do it. Two successful attempts are better than five unsuccesful attemps, IMO.
Then, I suggest you move your practice to about two hours before it's time to wake up. That way you have a full night's sleep under your belt, (or almost), are sufficiently relaxed, and will slip into a trance faster. Keeping it to twice a week means you can pick the best days where you can manage this 'getting up early' thing, and then do energy work at other times of the day, when you're having down time from whatever you are doing- in a waiting room you can do sponging, any time really where you have five or ten minutes to sit. It's ok to sit and do it, and if there are people there announce you're tired and close your eyes.
It's what I did when I used to have two jobs and other responsibilities too.
Good luck.

What you said makes a lot of sense, so I will definitely give it a try.
Thanks for the advice!

i'll second that thanks.
i have the same problem.
in fact, i've kinda gotten into the habit lately, of doing that so that i CAN fall asleep.

now, if i could just clear my blockages in my knees, and wrists, and quit smoking, and, and, and.....

never mind.
ignore the /rick.....
he's just tired and rambling.

Yes, I know what you mean... I tend to do this sometimes to fall asleep. I'm almost a little afraid that I have conditioned my body to think "sleep" when I'm doing my relaxation routine.
That's why I think that CFTraveler's advice will come in handy - switching it up definitely can't hurt! I have never really done any energy work though. Do you think this would be helpful in my situation? And, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly do you mean when you refer to "blockages?"
