Hi all mark here from england
id like to ask if you people think this is me on the verge of an OBE. for years now, at least a couple of times a week when i go to bed and am just about to fall asleep i get this sudden feeling of falling, well to be honest its not really falling because ive normally jumped out of my skin before i get to the point of actually falling . Its more like a sudden drop, and quite a scarey feeling. ive never done any work on OBE before but have plenty of expierience of meditation, and am now waiting for amazon to deliver both the astral dynamics books this week, as i want to get over this horrible fear thing and try to ease myself out if this is, what is actually happening. the thing that prompted me to look into it was seeing a video on youtube by and a caller was explaing about a thing that happened to him where he felt little dark creatures trying to grab him and making not very nice noises, and ive had the exact same thing he was describing, it sort of changed my life in a way as i really believed i had, had a glimps of hell, and it scared the crap out of me. so here i am ![]() do you think my dabbling in meditation has opened up the door to some extent and this is what is happening ? |

No, the falling sensation is a normal part of falling asleep and indeed could be associated with separation or dislocation, but it could also be physical (and normal.) I believe it's called a Myoclonic Jerk and if it's not on the ADPedia (in my sig) it should be.
What meditation does is make you more aware of things that happen and go unnoticed. This is what 'opening up awareness' really means, and nothing to do with holes in defenses or anything else like that. Unfortunately (or fortunately, for survival purposes) a lot of stuff in life goes unnoticed, and that's why meditative and introspective work makes you see more of what is there. This makes people think that the work made the things be there, but it didn't- it just made people notice what was there anyway. Kind of like a microscope, for example- germs (originally called 'little beasties' by Lewwenhoek (I prob. misspelled that horribly)) they're there and they can make you sick, but looking in the microscope just shows you they really are there. To avoid being unnecessarily scared about things that are energy and consciousness related, I suggest you read the thread "Your first conscious projection", in the New Members section (there may be a link here, I'm not sure) which describes a lot of stuff you may experience that is energetically related- but startling or scary to someone who has not much experience in the discipline. Ta for now, CF. |

oh right, ill read the post you recomended,
the only other thing i would add, is that when i had the small creepy things trying to grab me, i was in ermmm......... a paralysed state, i could see a tunnel , a dark tunnel , not sure if its was above me or below me as i couldnt work out my orientation. there was very loud screaching, as though lots of people were doing it all at the same time, and i could feel hands trying to pull me into this tunnel. somehow i snapped myself out of it, and got out of bed to turn the light on, then realised i was dreaming ???? because i couldnt physically turn the light on. i really believed i had woken up and gotten out of bed, it felt perfectly real. at this point i found my self back in bed but still paralysed and willed myself to wake up, and it worked, i then sat on the edge of the bed for 15mins shaking wondering what the hell just happened, would you say this was just a dream ? or lucid dream of somesorts. im over it now and am actually quite looking forward to trying to get OB, as from what i have read and understood so far, i am in control! ive just got to learn that im in control so to speak. so knowing this has eased me no end ![]() |

Hey, I get this a lot too, and believe I posted the same question a year or less ago on here. And I was a little disappointed to find out it wasn't an OOBE feeling, but I still think it's pretty awesome, just because it feels so weird. I almost succeeded an OOBE a few nights ago, and I could say I knew it, this time around [after more reading and research and learning] because my whole body started to vibrate - strange enough, it seems to start at my arms, particularly the right, which makes me think I might need to free up my other energy centers if my arms are what feel the energy first
![]() Since it was my first time though, I think I got a little taken aback, and my eyes opened before I could succeed. But good luck to you! |

cool
![]() well im going to give this 90 day course a whirl when the book comes and see where it takes me, quite excited at the prospect actually. and from what i can gather its structured so that should make it easy to follow, unlike when i was first learning to meditate and read lots of books all telling you a different thing or method. but i can now sink myself into that state very quickly and have also done some basic mind programing ![]() |
