I constantly have this "dream".. It happens about once every week if not more. I don't try to do this, and it has started happening since I had taken a more conscious effort to control my dreaming. I guess I got tired of getting hurt/killed in my dreams
![]() OK.. This is what happened.. Or what usually happens.. I think I wake up. Everything as it is supposed to be, and I really do think I am awake. I go to walk down the stairs, and I see my dad at the counter. I was staying over at my parents house helping my dad to put a roof on a shed, and took a nap on the couch. Anyhow, I see my dad, and right as I get to the bottom of the stairs my OBE turns black and white, and all of a sudden like being on a rubber band I start getting pulled back up to where I was sleeping. Also it's like there is a vortex or something up there where my body is because I see black particles and what looks like wind blowing dust back to where my body is. I could "see" the wind sucking back up the stairs to my body. I always scream in my dream when this happen because I get pulled back rather violently. It feels like I am being launched on one of those reverse bungee cord rides or something. It's like 0-100 MPH in 1 second literally. All this wind which I can see is flowing back to my body, and all these weird looking things that are about the size of leaves are blowing back the way I came. Anyhow, I wake up for real then.... It's weird because I can never get more than about 15ft away from my body, and I cannot control when it does and doesn't happen. I always think I am awake when I have an OBE until I start getting pulled back. Everything I see is always in it's place when I awake. Like today my father was standing at the counter when I went downstairs after my OBE. The dog was laying on the couch as he was when I got to the bottom of the stairs. There were only minor differences in the arrangements of things like a weird latch on the gate we have up for the dogs so they do not go upstairs. There is no latch on the real gate. And the clock was missing from the wall. What's happening to me? Anyone have this very same dream? Is it as violent when you are getting pulled back to your body as mine are? EDIT: I starting having this type of "dream" when I started to try to control things after getting killed a lot in my dreams. I have had sleep issues ever since I could remember. It would take hours to fall asleep (if at all) and sometimes I would go a couple days w/o sleeping. I have tried all meds, but am not currently on any type of meds to help me sleep. I do not take any kind of drugs either. These weird OBEs started happening about a year and a half to two years ago, and it would always be the same thing. I would feel as if I am really awake and would get up only to have my body pulled back to where I was sleeping about 10-15 seconds after getting up never getting more than 15-25ft away from my body. I would NEVER see my own body laying there, but there would be this "wind" that would blow to where I guess my body would be. Most of the time I see something it is there after I awake. I am really interested on seeing how far I can go with this. I would love to have some of the experiences that some of you have. I know not everyone can do what I do so I would like to see how far I can take this w/o hurting myself. Is there any clubs or anything that can help me do this on my own terms rather than a random once a week type thing? 2ND EDIT: Forgot to say this part I think.. When I awake into my OBE (which I think I am really awake) it's this weird tingling sensation all over my body right before I awake into my OBE. Kind of like when you force yourself to wake up from a bad dream except I have this tingling sensation all over my body and it's the most focused in my head. I don't know what to make of all this as this is the first time I am asking others about this, and I don't know if what I am having is an OBE or just a bad dream. |

It's an OBE.
OBEs are a natural part of life, and they happen all the time. The thing is that when you go to sleep you miss the exit. When you start working on lucid dreaming, what you are doing is training your mind to stay aware when your body goes to sleep, so you can consciously control the outcome, or try to understand why you are having the nightmares (what is your subconscious trying to tell you?). When you do these type of awareness practices (including meditation) you start to become aware of states known as liminal (in between) and pretty much all your symptoms are of a separation and reintegration. Because you are semi-lucid in your state, you are still 'bound' by physical limitations as to how far you can go, what the expectation of the experience; this can be helped (to gain control and get more energy) if you start doing energy work. A few things you can do to get you more information is to read the post "Your First Conscious Projection"-in it you will read about a lot of the symptoms you are having in terms of an OBE. You should also read Robert's Treatise on Astral Projection part 1 is the part I linked. |

Thanks for the reads.. Will definitely look into those links as soon as I finish up with this reply.
I had did a search and was wondering since I never found anything similar to what I had said.. Do people have violent re-entries into their body like I do? It's like everything is OK. I am up out of my body and I begin to walk away. I really believe I am awake when this is happening. It feels like when you wake up from a bad nightmare. But I wake up into a dream state. Anyhow, I walk, and then everything turns greyish like a black and white almost. Then I see wind blowing the opposite way I am walking back to my body, and it feels like something grabs me and throws me back into my body. I wake up and usually will sit there still as ever for about 5 mins before trying to move. It's really violent, and I do not like this. If I am indeed having OBEs I would like them to stop if I cannot control that aspect of it. I do not believe in ghosts, or spirits of dead people. I look for other explanations to this phenomena. Could a "spirit" actually be someones OBE that people see? EDIT: I forgot to mention which was kind of weird.. The last time I had an OBE I was in bed, and listening to my radio. I was asleep and "thought" I woke up, and could actually hear my radio when waking from a deep sleep into an OBE. Again, I thought I was awake so I got up. Not sure why because when I wake up from normal sleep into a normal awakening I don't get up. I just go back to sleep. Anyhow, I got up from my bed and got about 10 ft and was rubber banded back into my body like someone grabbed me and threw me back into my body REAL hard. I woke up and the same thing was playing on the radio. So what i gathered from my OBEs in the last year is that I am not asleep, but not awake (although I think I am awake). I see things that are all about 90% normal, and can actually see things that are away from my body, and hear things that I wouldn't hear when I was asleep. I have yet to be able to move anything, or touch anything in the real world yet. One question for anyone out there. Have you ever or has anyone ever projected themselves to someone else as a "spirit"? Like did you ever project somewhere where you knew someone and had them actually SEE you? |

Except for my husband, no, but I have been visited by some projectors, consciously and unconsciously.
Usually when a person projects they interact with the other person's astral double. Sometimes, if the other person is awake, the other person will not recall this interaction (or will suddenly think of the other person and then go on with their life). But if the other person is in trance (as in, falling asleep, but not quite there) they may experience the visit as a 'ghost'. There are lots of other ways to experience the 'ghost' phenomenon, this is just one of them. Perhaps this question would be a good one for the 'poltergeists, ghosts, etc.' section. |

I am kind of excited about the one I had tonight..
I was taking another nap on the couch, and I got that weird buzzy feeling in my head, and awoke from my dream into a OBE. I called out, and yelled and yelled for my roommate. They were in the other room downstairs watching TV. When I didn't hear anyone call back I realized I was in an OBE. I stood there for a moment and gathered my thoughts. This was the first time I was able to control it. I was totally conscious if there is such a thing in my OBE. I usually just think I am awake and start walking for the stairs, or into the other room until I get pulled back. This time I stood there for a moment and called my roommates name. I started walking for the stairs and took a count at each step, because I knew the further I got that I would get pulled back soon. I kept walking, and took a look at the TV show he was watching. It was that "hole in the wall" tv show. I kept walking and then I felt that tugging feeling in my gut and I knew I was going to get pulled back to my body. I braced myself and it wasn't that bad!!! I was expecting it this time so it wasn't so violent. So while I did not get much further I was able to control it a LOT better than before. Sure enough when I got up I ran downstairs to see what he was watching, and sure enough it was "hole in the wall". I asked if he heard me calling for him, and he said "no". I got totally excited and told him all about it. He still thinks I am crazy but oh well. I am pretty skeptical as a person, and really don't know if what I am having is a dream and just hearing the TV show and putting that as part of my dream, and using that to know what's on TV so that I see it when I OBE.. Not sure.. Anyhow, I will update you on my next one. Should be in about a week or so! |
