Default Raised in the air--How do I know I was not possessed?
One night last month, I had a big glass of ice tea in the evening so I didn't sleep well last night, in and out of a series of dreams.

In one of the half dream half awake states, I was lying on my bed looking out of my window from my bed at the bright sky (although it's midnight), with the sun high up and at the edge of the sky, something blue was forming. I thought to myself, that probably was a rainbow. The next thing I knew, I was raised by a force, intending to turn everything upside down. I was like what's the matter with the earth, why is it turning upside down? Then I felt myself raised by a force from underneath while lying on my bed. I saw my two legs raised in the air and my body was hanging in the air. Somehow in the half dream half awake, there was someone next to me, although there wasn't. I smacked him repeatedly and said look, hey look, what happened to me? I am in the air. Look at my legs. They are still going up. I was terrified! First I thought the end of the world has come when the earth was turing upside down. Then I thought I was having something like an OBE. But then it felt as if I was possessed by a force.

What I wondered about this experience is that maybe the floating is because I thought about floating, so up I went. I did feel the tingling seasation on my legs. How do I know I was not possessed? What's the difference?

Another experience just a week ago:

I took some medication for my upset stomach last night and as a result, it interrupted my sleep. I was in and out of rest.

During one point, a huge vibrating, buzzing sound occurred. It was so loud that I and everything were vibrating with it as well. Then there was a rectangular transparent frame, about the size of 50-60 inch wide screen TV, appeared in the air, with shimmering edges, The frame seemed to be in a procession, one after another, going from my bedroom, to the direction of my living room. I heard my father’s voice in the living room, which I don’t remember what he was saying, but it was clearly his voice. (My father passed on a few years ago.)
I was in fear. There was a powerful force with this roaring sound, as if the force roamed with the sound. I felt I was raised from bed for 10 seconds as the roaring sound and the force continued. I remembered feeling myself raised from the bed, feeling it was so cool. But then the force diminished.

Since my father passed on, I have had many dreams where my father was in it. But usually he was silent. If he said something, the sound would not be audible, but I understood him anyway.

During this experience though, I would say this is the first time I heard his voice, loud and clear. Even though I was in the bedroom, I knew it was him that's in the living room before I heard him.

In this experience, the vibration and buzzing power felt like it's a zone, and I and my surrounding energy vibrated with it. When the frames appeared in the air, I remembered I thought about the word "tunnel" and almost immediately I heard my father's voice from the other side of the frame procession.

Can the initial vibrations turn into a zone and I was embraced in it? I also wonder whether the floating afterwards was due to myself thought of floating.

Possession seems rather unlikely here. It can usually be excluded unless other very severe things happen, which didn't according to your description. It is very, very rare and almost everybody needs to never worry about.

The fact that you looked into a bright sky at midnight might be a hint you were not looking into the physical plane. The lighting conditions are different in the non-physical realms.

This could be an episode of astral wind that caught your astral double and yanked it, a guide or friendly entity giving you a helping hand, or something similar. A person standing next to the bed might indicate a "Dweller on the Threshold" (look it up in AD-Pedia).

The second experience seems to match what Robert wrote about a door or frame appearing above him which usually was followed by an experience of the higher realms beyond the astral (mental plane, buddhic plane, etc.).

Contact to the dead has been repeatedly reported, some people specifically work with the dead when projecting (see for example: Soul Retrieval). According to Michael Newton the way dead people can influence dreams varies from person to person, and I read somewhere that dream communication with the dead is not an easy task for the dead initiating it.

Vibrations, weird perceptions, varying intensities of energy, buzzing, electrical sounds are all part of projection-type experiences. Until your "inner senses" have settled and developed these things do not necessarily make sense. Just observe and see what you can learn.

According to Robert there's no need to be afraid. A human is on the average very well protected from any real harm. You can however by scared - by "someone" or your own perceptions and even your own fantasies. The less fear you have, the better your experiences will turn out to be.

Take good care,
Oliver

Hi, Oliver:

Thank you for the reply! At the time of the two experiences, I was aware that I was laying on my bed and from there the scenes played out. When I floated up, I thought this is really cool, but I didn't will myself to move out of the room or the window. I just totally enjoyed and was awed by the fact I was floating. Next time, I should be more in control and move out of the room and explore out.

I have had a few experiences where I felt I was being led or drawn somewhere. Usually, in these situations, I am aware of the presense of some trustworthy being (usually one I know or immediately recognise). Possibly, you had a bit of help and you just weren't entirely aware of the companion.

As you've suffered no ill effects, I'd say it was nothing to be concerned about. Possession has very nasty side effects.

Just to add what everyone said- besides that most of the things you described had the elements of an astral projection gone confusing- every once in a while, when AP'ers project very close to their bodies they tend to feel their own projected doubles right next to them, making them feel there's another body there. I experience it from time to time, and it's interesting once you get over the initial trepidation, which is natural.
