Last night I laid down to go to bed and decided to do some energy work. About a minute after laying down I felt a very real feeling of floating. Ive felt it a couple times before but I always thought it was the start of a projection, and it usually ended after a few seconds. It has never happened so quickly after relaxing either, I wasn't even in a trance. And unlike other times, it didn't feel like I was going to leave my body, but it felt like my entire body was moving upward, even the bed.
This continued for about 2 minutes. I think it would be better described as a feeling of motion, not stationary floating. I felt like I was moving upward and changing directions at an exciting pace, it was awesome. After this time, the feeling changed to moving downward. This continued for 30 seconds to a minute, at which point the feelings of motion ended and my body felt uncomfortably hot, and I had to take off the covers. I discontinued my energy work, probably in hopes of not "messing" with this phenomenon, whatever it was, and that it will happen again. I'll note that I did not leave my body in this experience (or at least didn't project). I posted this experience because I've only heard of one similar experience, which happened to Skip Atwater at the Monroe Institute. He describes it in a video, but I haven't earned the right to post the link yet ![]() I'd appreciate hearing any ideas about why I felt this and what it was, or any similar experiences you might have had. |

This has happened to me on occasion (before I knew how to induce a projection) before having a spontaneous projection. You were having exit sensations, similar to end-stage vibrations in which your energy body has disengaged from your physical body and is ready for launch. If you try to go on trance after feeling this you may be able to project. However, it hasn't happened again so I can't say for sure.

No problem. It really doesn't feel like exit sensations, it actually feels like you already projected or are levitating, which could be a case of conscious bilocation- I didn't even connect it to projection (mainly because at the time I didn't know anything about it) but it did happen before having a spontaneous projection later on that night, which is why I'm connecting it now.

Im still in the beginning stages of learnin how to AP and i get this feeling all the time also. Even when im just sitting somewhere and i close my eyes for a few seconds, it feels like gravity gets turned down its pretty cool. also at the same time i get tingleing in my arms and sometimes my legs it feels like energy or something all around my arms and legs. When im in bed i try to turn it into a projection but i think i always lose my focus or something. When i first started trying it i felt these vibrations that were so intense i though my ears were gonna blow out and it felt like my heart was racing so fast i was going to die. But now it seems like i try to make that happen again and i always fall asleep. It probably doesnt help that i drink with some friends a few night out the week...
