Hi, I got a question.
I used to try learning meditation, and I tried many times, and nothing happened. I'm now trying to learn Astral Projection. I heard that some people can only do it after some years of practice, and I also heard that some can do it after like a week or a month. I heard that the reason for these differences is because of the person's mind itself. All my life, I've been visualizing leaving my body, going through walls and stuff like that. I've also tried going into animals' bodies and that sort of thing, and I even practiced martial arts by visualizing it, and by now, I have a pretty strong power of visualization even if I'm in the beta state of mind. Because of all these time spent on visualizing leaving my body and acting like as if I was in my astral body, wouldn't I have some sort of advantage??? |

Yes and no.
Visualization involves being in one place and seeing yourself in another. This actually reinforces your being in that one place: In body. But if you can use the power of visualization to feel yourself being somewhere else- imagining a room around you, the door in front, the space around, etc- this type of visualization can be helpful to get out of body, because you can move your point of view 'somewhere else'. So it's not that the ability to visualize is helpful or not helpful- it's how you do it. So if you feel yourself doing a kata, for example, it'll help you to do it. If you however, imagine your body going through a wall, as if you were watching it, this is not only not helpful, it can get in the way, because it's easy for it to become a habit. |
