Hello,
I'm new to this site and have been browsing posts and reading about experiences that I wish I had heard about years ago when I actually tried OBE. Having only a friend to share experiences with and no guidance, my exploration stopped. I was playing it safe and it was probably a good thing. It's so much better to have some direction. I saw a post where someone mentioned meeting their higher selves. I was thrilled about that because it explained what happened in one OBE session I had. A friend and I were trying ro get out of body and we both ended up in what seemed to be a really bright white room. When we talked about it we didn't know if the room was white or we just couldn't see what was around us because of the differnece in energy or something. We both sensed a lot of people and sortof clinking noises like the noises from a party (glasses clinking/tinkling) and it was as if there was two parts to ourselves. We each felt one part was perfectly happy and talking to the other people there but the other part (we figured it was our earth bound ego part) couldn't understand a word that was being said. I remember I finallly felt panicky and the part of me that was getting along fine saiid something like "I'd better go she's freaking out" or something like that to the person she was talking to. And then I was back in my body and my friend and I compared experiences. She had been in the room too and had also had a part of her freaking out and another part being calm. We thought at the time that this must be our higher selves and our earthbound/ego? selves. We were also surprised when, about a half year or more later Shirley MacLaine's book came out - Out on a Limb - and in it she mentioned a white room. I can't remember what she said about it but it did take us by surprise. Other than dating myself with that book reference - I would like to know if anyone else has been to a "white room" or experienced their higher selves rolling their eyes at their earthbound selves. I find my higher self, from what I've experienced is quite the joker and very blase about things that may have distressed me. Thanks for any input. |

There are a lot of ways to experience meeting your higher self, since spirituality is so complicated. but i think that in time, everyone realizes that they are connected to their higher selves...they are their higher selves...and have been the whole time. It is the other things that are the illusion.
That doesn't mean that you can't meet your higher self in the astral. It is perfectly possible to meet all aspects of yourself in the astral, or any other spiritual method, in fact, you might meet them all. The higher self is very playful, sometimes seeming silly, other times excessively honest. that kind of honesty can hurt, but only because your higher self is releasing pain that you have been holding in. they are not causing you pain, but helping you to release it. On the other hand, in my opinion, if some spiritual personality is condescending to you, you are either experiencing an aspect of yourself or a cruel, negative spirit. there are different white rooms, i'd be interested to see what white room she was talking about. |

I think Erin Pavlina meets her spirit guides in a white room, IIRC.
