Default "Seeing" as described by Casteneda
In many of Casteneda's books Don Juan describes a dreaming/OOB ability termed seeing, where one is capable of perceiving all subjects and objects (even gross physicality) directly as energy without the filter of human perception. While in the seeing state, time space and identity as a separate Observer are transcended, where perceiver and perceived are one and the same, in the midst of an infinite sea of vibrating, luminous fibers of energy/awareness.

Sounds like super clairvoyance mixed with enlightenment and mushrooms.

I met a man who said he would occasionally slip into a very similar state (once every 15 years). However, his perception was limited to stictly "physical things". Has anyone ever willingly induced this while OOB? It would be a potent tool of observation in any world you're in.

Sounds like a samadhi experience - because of its non-dual nature.

Not during OBE but I experienced it few times for a few (earth) seconds during visioning work. Those luminous eggs really are very facinating.

It very well might be Samadhi, or at least a "visual" facet of it, but I've also heard of people who acheived the seeing without an accompanying sense of oneness.

I believe it was also described by Carlos as not neccessarily being limited to just a visual perception. Sometimes he described it as almost hearing, or like a type of sonar. I don't know if it's my personal habit but perception for me is almost always reduced or interpreted as a "human" perception. I would love to tap into that raw perceptive substrate and see the "real" dynamics behind our experience.

I would describe it that we can receive all the information - we can 'see' everything. It just may be too complicated to relate or understand so sometimes the best some get are simple colors or blackness. Sometimes what is seen is actually very simple when you view a small piece but when you take in the whole view things become overwhelming.

Seeing something as it is can be difficult - that can be a reason where someone would see symbolic images instead of the construct itself.

I think that seeing means veiwing the energy of the universe without using any of our ability to structure what we perceive into any sort of system. Basically perceiving energy from the universe "as it is", without any sort of judgment. Perceiving without catagorizing and structuring what we see. Althoughy Dun Juan says that seeing wasn't really the crux of sorcery, he just used it as another one of his tricks in order to distract his pupils attention from the more important aspects of sorcery.

I beleive carlos casteneda books have much more instructional content than they seem to. I have read each book about 10 times ( literaly), and their is absolutely sooo much knowledge about the second body state in them. I have noticed so many similarities between modern understanding of the OBE and of what Carlos Casteneda went through. I have also noticed many similarities between Don Juans teaching's and Robert Bruce's idea's about OBE. One such example would be the mind split. I don't want to go into to detail here, but I beleive Carlos Casteneda's books add much merit to Robert Bruce's theories about the mechanics of projection. I will make a post with details some time soon.
