Default Can't open my eyes during an OBE
this happens to me every once in a while, as it did this afternoon, i was able to roll out of my body which was lying on my bed, but i couldnt open my eyes, it felt like they were glued shut. i made several subsequent attempts at leaving my body but i still wasnt able to gain my vision. finally i fumbled for the doorknob and was able to make my way out into my kitchen blind where i finally dropped to my knees trying to focus on several different things to bring me sight such as raising my vibrations, focusing specifically on my eyes, visualizing my surroundings etc. but no dice.

its occurred to me that maybe this is due to a lack of the proper level of energy required to maintain consciousness in the astral, maybe my chakras arent firing on all pistons or something. does anybody have any ideas?

That is the usual answer to this question: Need more energy, or, you're too close to your physical body. If you can't see, try going through a portal of some kind (through a wall, etc) and most of the time vision returns, but you may not be in your RTZ area any more. If you still have vision problems, you need to do more energy work (or start if you haven't yet.)

Need more energy! great point CFTraveler, I absolutely hate those projections that feel weak and unsustainable, I usually know once I get my vibrations if its going to be like that, and when it is, I can barley sustain my vision for longer than a few seconds before it fades to black again.

I love to know if theres any known foods or vitamins that are good for increased energy during projections.
I'm guessing a decent diet helps, but wonder food would be awesome

This works for some:
http://www.saltcube.com/out-of-body/....jsp?t=eye-pry

"Clarity now" has worked fo me in bringing back a lucid dream but I've never thought to use it in a blind OBE.

Once I became aware of my astral body on the floor near my bed. I could not attain vision. I discovered later that I'd been out and visited a friend. My theory is that I'd exhausted my reserves, forgotten my adventure, recovered awareness enough to find myself out of body and couldn't see because I had no energy left.

Thanks for this link, i have tried prying my eyes open as well, which is kind of a creepy feeling, i'll focus on doing this more intensely next time to see if it works a bit better. clarity now is something that usually works for me when i already have some vision but its blurred or dimmed. how frustrating it is to get out and have something like your vision hold you back! its just so strange that my eyes actually feel like they are physically glued shut... and also that especially during this last event that i could move around in my apartment and i could feel that my environment was solid and that my presence there was strong...it was just my eyes that werent cooperating.

something else i find curious is that there have been several times that i have in fact been quite close to my body and had perfect vision, i have looked down at my body on the bed and been able to inspect it (and my kitties sleeping next to me ), but other times it does seem that i have to move away from my body to gain my vision....totally arbitrary, no logic to it that i can fathom yet.

the energy factor is something that i am currently experimenting with. i have noticed in several threads that people are looking for the trigger food that will encourage dreaming, lucid or otherwise. although my results do still seem to be arbitrary, its been making more sense to me to avoid food altogether before sleep or attempting a projection...when my stomach and intestines are not tied up with the digestive process, its much easier for me to pull energy up through my body during meditation to charge up my entire subtle body, which i assume is the vehicle (or at least part of the vehicle) that we use to move in the astral. what do you think about this?

and let me apologize ahead of time for stating anything that may be obvious, i decided a long time ago that i would steer away from most literature on this subject... i want this universe to show me what its truth is, so im trying to avoid having too many other impressions implanted in my mind that may distract me from seeing what is really there, although i am still intensely interested in other people's experiences. i hope this makes sense

Or as Kiwibonga said in another thread: (or was it in this one?)
Many things hint at the idea that you must raise energy to gain the ability; i.e. your energy field must be large enough for you to be able to reach what you want to be looking at. Under a certain arbitrary treshold of an arbitrary quantity of incalculable energy, you'll be astrally blind.

...but don't overdo it- on my last projection I spent most of it trying to go to the kitchen to fix a meal that I couldn't grasp, because I had almost nothing for dinner, and didn't have breakfast the next day, and decided to try to project before breakfast. It was frustrating, because my whole thought process was dictated by how hungry I was.
One of the best projections I have ever had was after eating a greasy hamburger as a first meat meal after being an ovo-vegetarian for almost three years. I had a burger (craving) went home and had a great projection that lasted over an hour.
So the moral of this story is: Everybody's requirements are different, and balance is important.

right on, ive also had great projections that happened after a meal, so again we run into the seemingly arbitrary mystery variable...its a nice puzzle. it seems to me that the correct way would be to achieve optimum health in order to maybe induce dependable consistent projections. one of the first things my mother told me early on is that its best to be healthy in your body before you try leaving it so maybe before you reach that optimum health level, there are times that a meal satisfies some part of you that serves to energize your field at that time, in the same way that conjuring the energy through meditation would...maybe like an espresso shot, not the healthiest way to perk yourself up, but it does the trick when needed.

Food is a double-edged sword... It makes you drowsy and heavy, but it's also one of the best ways to enhance your thinking abilities...

I'm a translator, a tetris champion and a programmer, and I often forget to eat when I'm really absorbed in what I'm doing... And I noticed many times that I performed much better at these mental tasks after a protein-heavy meal.

A malnourished brain will have trouble focusing, not just because of the hole you feel in your stomach when you're hungry, but also because it actually needs that food to work properly. That may be the reason my first projection happened after steak, potatoes, coke and nicotine, with the added bonus of an upcoming exam. Who knows?

so ridiculous! i had a good solid projection this evening that lasted a little while, not nearly long enough of course, and towards the end of it, i had apparently exhausted my energy because my right eye became glued shut and my head locked in place for some reason. this has never happened to me before, and i tried all the tricks to get my eye unstuck, but i guess my time was up so this brings me to another question... during this projection i chose to use my time testing out the physics of my environment, sometimes i practice magic basically, i work on my powers of attraction, repulsion, levitation, etc because i like to see how far i can push the boundaries (it seems they get pushed further every time), and this is what seems to have exhausted my energy reserve. have any of you noticed that doing certain things during a projection saps your energy more quickly than other things will? traveling also has this effect on me.

i just find it interesting that there seem to be these constraints in place, governing energy usage.
