I've read all the stuff on Astral Projection, including a book for beginners, but I still can't manage it. I try relaxing and waiting, and I can never manage to do anything before I fall asleep.
I believe I may have done it once before. I have a mental place I go to when I'm stressed or need to relax. It's a small, enclosed meadow, where everything is perfect. There is a pond in this meadow, with a smooth, rocky bottom. When I swim through it, there are fish of many colors, as well as a strange creatures I assume are a product of my imagination. At the end of a tunnel, there is a cave. I enter this cave. There is a flipping sensation, and I exit. The water is red and dark. Terrifying monsters glide around me. The rocks are jagged and hurt my feet when I crawl onto the barren shore. The dead grasses are sharp as needles. The trees are blackened. The sky is filled with storm clouds. This is how I deal with negative feelings. So, I was in the good side, where things are nice. I was laying on a couch, eyes closed, just daydreaming. I decided to "explore". Across the pond I went, into a beautiful wheat field. There, waiting for me, was a griffon (or so I assume). I climbed onto his back, and he took off, carrying me above the field where beautiful creatures played. In the distance there was a city. It was here we landed. Something in the outside world roused me, and I returned swiftly to the meadow and back to the "real" world. What is this leading to? How do I project? I'm not really new to meditation, so that part is easy. It's the seperation part, as well as what I should expect that gets me. I have a vague idea what I should expect so far as the physical world goes. It's happened to me several times, when I was younger. I floated above myself, looking at the room. As soon as I saw or thought of my body, though... My body jerks, and when I open my eyes, my heart is pounding, my breath comes fast, and I find myself unusually aware. Any way I can cause this? I'm trying to find something less complex, something that tells me quite obviously that I'm doing something new. Additionally, I apologise for any repetitive parts in this post... It's hard for me to express my thoughts completely in one shot. |

I believe that you need a discipline or practice to project OBE-style.
You need to do energy work, as part of a daily routine, to aid in the generation of a stable energy body that can take you through a separation and stay around long enough for you to perceive it and bring it back. Then comes relaxation, trance work (which is where meditation comes in) and energy loosening techniques. Then awareness work, (very important) to maintain wakefulness while your body goes to sleep- to keep you in theta so you maintain awareness as you slip into delta. This is the most important thing you must cultivate. And finally, learning exit techniques, and learning how to recognize exit sensations and not to be freaked out by them. You should find the detailed explanations in the forums, and the AD pedia. |
