It certainly sounds quite like it - except the stringy bits. Although, in the very centre of my vision, right where the tiny true focus area is, almost at the edge of awareness, I can sometimes make out a set of tiny rods, stack vertically, about 6 or so - they might not even be rods but be the sparks jumping back & forth too fast for me to see so they appear to be rods.

Fascinating what people have in their vision isn't it? Not just me, but all those who've posted here.
