Default Some questions from a noob
1)Howdy guys. In need of some views from veterans of APing. Hope you can help explain what happened to me. About 6 months ago I woke up at maybe 10 in the morning. So I drag myself out of bed and go downstairs. It wasn't until I was half way down that I noticed something that I have no idea why it didn't click when I woke up. As my body was walking down the stairs, I was looking down at it.

And then, just like that, once I realized I was out of my body, I returned to it and once again had a first person view. I had to sit down for a few minutes after that because I was at a loss for words, still am actually. How could I have an out of body experience even when my body is moving around like normal? Has this happened to anybody else?

2)For the last year or so, I've been unsuccessful with APing. I don't count the above because I didn't induce it. There's a recurring dream I have whenever I try to concentrate on APing before I fall asleep. In the dream I'm outside of my body but can never control where I'm going and I'm always still in my bedroom.

Which brings me to the subject of my spirit guide. Three nights ago I sent out thoughts asking for my spirit guide to allow me to meet him/her and for me to be able to remember it. I don't remember anything but I had the dream of me APing again. I'm confused, does that mean anything?

3)Final question is are OBEs just that, leaving your body or is it completely internal and produced simply in your mind? I'd like to believe that we can and do leave our bodies however lots of people doubt it and say it's been disproved.

Well, first of all I have to say that I think you had a false awakening with dream components to it. I first thought "autoscopy" which is a brain phenomenon, but it would only apply if you can physically see where you were from your bed. So chances are it's a dream.

For more info on how the theories on how this works read Robert's treatise, which I'll link to you.

As for reality, I think the question is objective or subjective. Reality can and usually is a bit of both, and it's the same in AP. Just run a search on 'reality' and you'll find all kinds of theories and ideas on it in the forum.

It hasn't happened to me, but I recall reading that people who do repetitive tasks can have waking APs. The example I remember the most is of women several generations ago, who would AP while churning butter--a repetitive, boring task if ever there was one. I haven't had a "waking" AP experience such as you describe, but I tend to think that it is quite possible. I can't guess whether your particular experience was a genuine AP or a vivid dream, but I wouldn't discount the possibility entirely.

I've read a lot of OPINIONS saying it has been disproved, but I've never seen such proof. And, since I reckon my opinion is as good as anyone else's, I would have to say it is a real, genuine experience-not just in our minds. There are numerous accounts of people having APs and being able to later discuss details of where they visited, only to have it proven true. Of course, the possibility exists that they had some sort of psychic experience that gave them the knowledge, rather than an actual AP.

Is it possible that he may have been in a trance like state while walking down the stairs and then Remotely Viewd himself doing so? I remember reading in Astral Dynamics that you can do things, although slowly, while still having a Remote Viewing.

And if Astral Projection were false, I doubt the military would have spent so much time experimenting with it the way they do.

I'm telling you it was no dream. If that was the case, how did I physically end up on my stairs? Thank you for the link.

I believe you did have an OBE will walking down the stairs. I think you basically had a "sleep-walking-OBE" while you were sleep walking you had an OBE. Your brain and mental functions are still there while you are having an OBE just not you consciousness if that makes any sense.
