Affirmations.
Write down affirmations that are to the point of what you're trying to do, and read them to yourself before going to sleep.
If you are too tired (you have to sleep too, you know) decide what days you want to wake up earlier (three times a week, for example) and make it official by writing it on a piece of paper you look at.
Don't judge yourself for wanting to sleep- come to a compromise that you're willing to go with.
The affirmations are very effective. Read them aloud to yourself so you hear your own voice as you read them.
Keep doing it knowing you are going to succeed.
You can do it!

Hello

Thanks i will try that.

Made some progress this morning, i put the alarm accross the room on my pedastle and had to get up i tryed hard but just fell asleep before making an attempt, i was thinking of instead of trying from bed to try in my chair like i used for MAP in the afternoons, so i proboloy wont fall asleep in the morning in my chiar, and ill try the affirmations aswell.

Thanks

Joel

Hi Joel,

Well, I'm definitely no expert, but I did have a successful spontaneous OBE the other day, and the thing that was different for me was that I wasn't in bed, where I would normally try to do it. I had actually gotten up and moved around a little then settled onto my loveseat in the living room.

I can't say with certainty that moving to a different spot made the difference, but I suspect it helped. In fact, I think I might try it tomorrow--see if I can replicate the experience if I follow the same pattern that I did that morning.

Good Luck!

Hi Joel-

Didn't happen for me again right away, but it did happen again this morning!

I had a terrible time sleeping last night--BAD insomnia (been a problem for me lately). Once again, just as before, I made hubby's lunch, fed the cat, and then drove hubby to work today. When I got home I laid down on the couch with a pillow with every intention of going to sleep, b/c I was just so tired after not getting any good rest last night.

Next thing I knew, the feeling came over me again and before I knew it, I was out & about! Frustrating because I can't seem to control what I'm doing, though. I wanted to go outside and explore, but couldn't---I was stuck in the living room. I'm not complaining though; at least I seem to have had a breakthrough having 2 obe's in one week.

I do have a concern about prescription meds, though--I wonder if that's why I'm having these all of a sudden. I'll probably post a new topic to the group about it, but essentially what it boils down to is that I take Paxil for anxiety issues, and ran out several days ago. I tried contacting my MD, only to find out she was out of town, so I had to wait to get a new Rx. It's been during this week that I've been without my med that I've had these obe's. I'm wondering if the Paxil actually has suppressed my ability to obe, and if going back on it (today, finally) is going to stop it from happening again.

How about you--have you had any luck since your last post? Did trying a different location in your home make any difference at all?
