Soon after falling asleep last night, I had a dream where I was at (I think) a party, where I met up with someone I haven't seen in a while, hugged 'er and we started talking. At that point I started going into exit vibrations within the dream (which is a bit awkward to have happen in the middle of a conversation). Still within the dream I started feeling very disassociated and "not all there" mentally. In the context of the dream I thought I was having some sort of weird "episode" and possibly a medical emergency, lol... so I excused myself to the bathroom to try and get my head together. On my way there, I noticed I was no longer walking, but floating, which was apparently unnoticed by everybody else, and by then the sensations and mental weirdness were really strong. At that point it ended and I woke up, still vibrating a bit.
A few more things stand out about this dream -- it was very vivid, and I had all my mental faculties, a lot more than is normal (within dream context, shut up ). Like, I was able to reflect on what was going on and possibly about as semi-lucid as one can get without actually knowing they're dreaming; whereas usually mine just kinda play out like a movie. Also, the vibes were different than normal -- usually they're very "harsh" like having a limb fall asleep, but this time it was like a smooth gentle hum, without accompanying sound effects. Before I went to bed and probably afterward I was doing some energy exchanging with someone I'm very connected to, which probably had something to do with it. In any case I think if that dream had gone on much longer, the scenery might have faded away and I might have found myself in some sort of projection. A near-miss, but one of the closer ones I've had, I think. Woot! |

Palehorse, this sounds to me like you were having an OBE. While in the dream state, we visit places and learn. When it is that vivid, it seems that you downloaded better than normal. Look at some of the stuff Aunt Clair writes about regarding learning in the astral. I'm more convinced than ever that we are in the astral during dreams. It doesn't have to make sense. Your perceptions can become mixed up due to astral reality fluctuations and the state of mind you've been in recently.
I've been doing some reading by people who have done "partnered exploration". They make an agreement to meet somewhere in the astral, and later compare notes. It's nothing short of amazing. They can have the same experience, but interpret it differently. One may describe a library where you can look at someone's experiences. The other may describe a more technical area that has something similar to computers. Even though they experience the place differently (usually according to their personal earthly experiences and likes), they saw the same other person's experience played out before them. One viewing it in a book, the other, viewing it via a computer. |

Yep, definitely agreed about doing a lot of learning during sleep. There are a lot of nights where I'll wake up without any specific visual/auditory dream recall; just the sense that "something" significant went on, and occasionally that such-and-such person was involved somehow. I'm guessing there are things getting tucked in my subconscious to be accessed later, during those "ah hah!" moments where there's a revelation, or the pieces of something all spontaneously come together, seemingly on their own, or I "accidentally" discover some new tool or ability.
Oooo partnered explorations are another thing that intrigue the crap out of me, lol. The person I talked about exchanging energy with will probably be good for that; we both want to get right on that, anyway. With any luck I'll have s'more cool stories to toss up here before long. The other odd thing I've been thinking about that I didn't go much into because I didn't think it was completely relevant to the story (and was tired of typing)... the person I was talking to in the dream was just someone I met on that cruise where I posted about the neg problems a long time ago. She seems cool and all, but not really someone I could see myself hanging out with (or anything else for that matter, ahem); we say hi every now and then on myspace and I'll probably never see her again, lol... but in the dream we hugged for a long time like old friends who hadn't seen each other in forever. I don't know if there was any significance to that, or just a random dream thing. I was half tempted to msg her and ask if she had any interesting dreams that night, but figured I shouldn't creep her out. Edit: now that I think about it, she does live in SF, and I was already thinking it'd be good to have at least a few contacts up there when I'm trying to relocate and whatnot. Hm. *wanders off to ponder* Thanks for the feedback; good stuff as always. |

hey tempest,
i was wondering if you could give some info or a link on the sources your reading regarding "partnered exploration". i'm very interested in this one. vsain(very slightly almost interesting note), i was telling a co-worker not too long ago about how when your dreaming, if you think about it you can take off flying. a couple days later he's all excited telling me i came to him in a dream and we flew together. i dont remember being there but in the back of my head i'm wonderin'. good stuff |

Hey tempest, the magician Rawn Clark actually investigated the same phenomenon and made a magical group which met only the astral. They spent a long time working on this, finding a spot, building a temple, all sorts of things over some years - the group was set up in 1995 and is still going.
What happened confirmed everything you just said about the differing interpretations. For example when Rawn cast a magic circle, those of the group who were magicians could see what he was doing. Those who had no experience with magic simply 'felt he was doing something that made them feel nice and safe', without being able to see directly what it was. I find this fascinating. Perhaps in the future such groups could find members on this site and report their findings back. Full link to Rawn's article: http://www.abardoncompanion.com/Beneath ... lMoon.html He gives everything a full write-up in a highly objective manner, and also mentions he recommends to others to do work like this as it is highly enjoyable and interesting. One day I hope to have a go. Best NN |
