Default ROPE disorientation
When I try to have an OBE while using the ROPE techniques I always experience confusion and disorientation. I get to a point where I get tingling sensations and heaviness all over my body but it gets to a point where I can't continue using the ROPE because my mind can't focus. Someone please tell me how to get past it so I can eventually leave my body. THANKS!

I am not 100% sure about this, but it seems to me you're telling me you're using ROPE to enter trance. You should be in trance already before doing ROPE. If I misunderstood I apologize. Here are a few threads that talk about problems with ROPE:

I don't think I'm in trance because it feels different. It feels like I'm about to lose connection with my body but it gets harder to use the ROPE after that point. I get so disoriented that I can't focus on the ROPE anymore and its hard to separate. I try concentrating on the ROPE but my mind focuses on the feelings I'm getting instead

do you mean that you are focusing on the stages(what it feels like) instead of the rope?

Yeah, I'm focusing more on the stages (such as the vibes and colors and stuff).

ive had this problem too. its all too easy to start analysing the exciting symptoms preceding the projection and loose focus on climbing the rope. Its all about concentration at this stage.

What helps me overcome this is practising breath awareness meditation. What i do is to treat the distracting pre-exit symptoms in the same way as the thoughts that pop into my head during meditation, learn focus on breath only at this stage, then rope only when attempting a projection, its a similar exercise albeit on a 'larger scale'

When I get to the stage where it becomes very hard to focus, I find that sometimes its helpful to mentally chant a mantra to help you focus, and it works. Of course this is coming from someone who's never succesfully projected before either, so i could be way wrong...I hope it helps

I'm having the same problem with ROPE too. Once the vibrations and swirling shapes appear behind my closed eyes I just can't seem to keep focused on climbing the rope and my attention slips back to the feelings. It will come This is more mind over matter I think.

If you feel like you're paralyzed and the rope technique isn't working for you, have you tried any others?

I've tried quite a few so far lol. The tunnel method seems to be the best bet for me, where I imagine myself flying up a huge black tunnel, this worked for my first OBE but no luck there after with a conscious exit projection.

I'm working on getting myself as deep into trance as I can because I think this may be my problem, I can't exit because I'm not relaxed enough. I find that if I just go to bed with the emphasis on just going to sleep then as I'm just about to drop off I get the vibrations and then try out an exit technique.
