Default I can't seem to do this..
Hi, my name is Jared, and I'm not entirely new to spirituality, but I am quite new to OBE's, particularly astral projection. I have read "Astral Dynamics" and I was fascinated. I practiced many of the execises in the "New Energy Ways" section of the book daily, and then decided to start trying to project.

Entering the trance state goes fine, and raising energy goes well. The farthest I ever get is I start to feel like my legs shake or vibrate and my eyes start twitching and I start to like feel like fuzziness and like hazy. I can almost see like gray fog and I can almost hear like a shhhhhhh kind of sound sort of like white noise, and so I try to will myself out, but all that ever happens is the vibrations gradually stop, and the hazyness goes away and all goes back to normal.

The technique I've been using is to lie on my back and visualize my projected double against the ceiling looking down at me, and visualizing that I AM the projected double. and when i feel it start working, my heart beats really fast and the vibrations happen and all that, but it all stops. I never quite make it. I've also tried the rope technique, which lead to the same outcome.

I am starting to feel pretty discouraged. I think it might not be working because I get excited when I think it is. I don't lose concentration, but I get excited. Could that be why it's not working? I am able to get to this stage every single time I try, but I have never made it out, at least not consciously. Is there anything I could do to work on this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you

Sometimes getting excited can blow it. Other times, it works. For me, anyway, there doesn't seem to be a magic technique. Just keep trying different things. When you feel yourself start to get excited, relax your physical body and try to adopt a casual attitude, becoming more of an observer of the whole thing. "Oh, now I'm feeling vibrations. Isn't that nice".

One thing that often happens, is that when I think I've blown an exit, I'll just "click out" or go to sleep. But, it's like my consciousness remembers the attempt, and I'll wake up an hour or so later with vibrations and exit without any problem. It seems to be like the first was a warm up, and the next, I went on automatic pilot.

Another thing that seems to work for me is that the more energy I get moving ahead of time, even earlier in the day, the more dramatic of experiences I have.

The list of ways to do it go on and on. The trick is to keep trying, and to keep trying different ways. I'm not proficient enough to do it every time, but I can always phase. So, that's always something else to look in to. The greatest experiences I've had to date have almost all been done using phasing.
