Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this before, a staticy/white noise sound that brings on a paralysis. It can last a minute or so, while totally conscious. This has happened to me while lying in bed at night over the last few years, while I was just trying to go to sleep. There was no warning or energy work/meditation involved. At first it frightened me, then I got used to it and tried to understand what it was while it occured. Still I have no idea what it is or what it means. Luckily I am objective by nature and this is what has saved me many times. Just trying to get some answers and thanks in advance.

I'm thinking that the white staticky noise may be astral noise, (or auditory hypnagogics) that you got because you were in sleep paralysis, aka mind awake body asleep.

Something that I've experienced a lot during sleep paralysis is enhanced hearing... I could hear faint noises as if they were occuring inside my head, things like the computer's fan or the AC during the summer...
In heavy trance, sounds have a strong effect on us, they're almost -violent- ; a loud sound will literally produce an electric shock. Perhaps this white noise is just ambient noise multiplied by the extra sensitivity to sound that trance brings. My way of looking at it is that the senses turn within, as if the information was going through a different pipe and made the brain go into a closed circuit -- this includes visuals, sounds, etc... Then you've got outside noises that come in the shape of electric signals through the nerves and are just infinitely more powerful than the signals in the "closed circuit." |

It's so funny that this just occured again this last weekend. In a state of almost sleep/relaxation, a feeling of quick dizzyness comes on, then the static noise of kkhhhhsssszzhhhsshzz and the frozeness. It happened off and on about eight times the other night in the span of less than a minute. I also purposely broke out of it a couple times by physically moving my arms and twisting my body, but again the paralysis. Also, to let you know, I'm not exercising or practicing AP or OBE. I play it safe and the most I've done since joining this forum is a little energy-body awarness and chakra work. Strange that it would happen again. It happens to my brother too, and he has no idea what it is, but he said he feels like a presence is there, and is an unwelcomed presence. Well, thanks for listening .
