Default Overwhelming vibrations
EDIT: Moved from Dreaming to more appropriate forum - Moderator

Hi there,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this question but anyway... I just wanted to ask you all about something I have been experiencing for the last couple of years, forgive my clumsy descriptions but these things are always difficult to articulate right!

Sometimes when I am sleeping I become aware of myself sinking into a really deep, heavy state, physically and in terms of consciousness. My body starts to become paralysed and an overwhelming vibration and buzzing begins at the back of my neck, sometimes there is also a high pitched noise, when this happens and I have to struggle to move and wake myself up. The reason I always wake myself up when this happens is because when this started happening to me the first few times I was being confronted and attacked by I guess what you'd call various entities, sometimes these are visual othertimes its more just a physical sensation of something attacking me. Anyway so now I just avoid the experience altogether.

Anyone else experience this or hear of this?

firstly, you did a very good job describing what you experienced. Secondly, if you read most any of the posts in this forum you will hear very similar themes. The question is, are you interested in projecting? If so you are along ways toward getting there! Many would give anything (almost) to get to the point you are so easily. Me included!!

If you are not interested. then just continue ignoring the sensations. They are nothing life threatening or bad. If you are interested I would suggest reading the info on astraldynamics.com and learning what to do next.

Whichever, good luck!

I think, from what I've seen, you're going through the precursors of OBE but running into problems from external entities.

Have a read through Psychic Self Defence & find yourself some defences & you may find the OBE experience a little more to your liking.

There are a lot of positives to be found in things Astral & OBE & it would be a pity to deny yourself the chance to grow because of unpleasant outsiders.

All the best in your new journey...

This sounds like the Dweller on the Threshold phenomenum. It's not anything to be afraid of. A lot of people experience it. This might help you understand it: http://www.saltcube.com/out-of-body/cha ... ?t=sp-fear
The vibrations and noise are exit sensations. You are close to having an OBE, but probably are aborting it due to fear. Robert has a lot to say about this in his tutorials:

Thanks so much for the replies!

I have intentionally tried to project once before but to no avail, I get anxious easily when strange sensations occur. Your input has helped me feel more relaxed about it though, maybe this will help me let go more easily when this happens and I will read up more on psychic defense. Is there something that makes some people more vulnerable to attack than others?

The most intense experience I ever had was on the night of my last birthday, the sinking paralysis started as soon as I got into bed and while I kept resisting it and getting up again everytime I allowed it to occur I also had the sensation of a shadow(??) passing over my head. I didn't experience an attack initially but had the most wonderful experience which involved leaving the ground and flying over landscape and progressively higher until entering a 3 dimensional gridwork in the universe, the visuals were beautiful and the feeling I experienced while doing this was like being in love, it was only later in this case that I encountered an 'attack', the worst I have experienced to date.

Thanks again, will look at other people's experiences and compare.

Another thing

The last time these vibrations occured I did not experience an 'attack' from a being of any sort. The reason I was scared this time was because of the shift that was occuring in my consciousness. I was seeing an image in darkness of an ouroboros which I heard in my mind being refered to as the circle of desire. As I was sinking into a deeper state I heard/understood that I was about to be exposed to the truth/reality beneath this image and I knew that once this began I would not be able to stop the process or get away from it ( much like the begining of a roller coaster as you head over the top). Anyway I felt that whatever I was about to see was so ugly and traumatising that it might destroy me completely. Thinking about it the next day it made more sense. Transcending the circle I would expect to experience 'oneness' below however I would expect to experience the opposite - 'emptiness'. I have been unusually emotionally upset and feeling empty the last couple of days and pushing things down, I think that I was about to come into contact with this in a profound way that frightened me.

flying over landscape and progressively higher until entering a 3 dimensional gridwork in the universe, the visuals were beautiful and the feeling I experienced while doing this was like being in love The back of Robert's book "Astral Dynamics" has a picture of the grid. I've seen it while OBEing, and it's really awesome. The "angle" that you approach the grid can take you to different places in the astral.

I'm not sure if this is similar to your experience...but I've had an experience of sheer terror when I was enveloped into the Oneness. The terror lies in releasing your personal identity to become One with others. When I relaxed into the experience, all I felt was bliss.
