Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced seeing his/her own projected double in an Astral Projectioin/OBE attempt?

6 years ago in an attempt to perform astral projection for the first time, i felt my body getting heavier and heavier and had a feeling as though i was sinking into my bed.... then suddenly as if my third eye opened. i started to see through the fog eventhough my eyes were closed.... and even with my eyes opened i started seeing a green misty figure floating and hovering ontop of my own physical body. I was fully awake at this point and was conscious...though my physical body might have been paralysed..... At first i did not know what to think except i know that the green mist resembles a figure... then the next night i tried the same thing again and each night i started to make out more of this thing i was seeing until one day i was positive because i started noticing the facial figures like the nose, eyes, lips...etc at first it really freaked me out and i did not know what to think.... this was before i read Astral Dynamics by robert bruce... so i just forced myself to sleep and tried to forget about what happened.... but after reading his book. it started to make mroe sense to me and now i believe that what i was seeing was most likely my projected double.... as shown from the astral projection timeline diagram.... a figure facing directly down ontop of the physical body.

Has anyone experienced the same thing i have? And what color was their projected double? I'm very curious as to why i saw my own projected double since most people are not even fully awake or conscious when they get to this state..... as well as the color of my projected double.

I have seen my projecting double a few times, but sometimes wonder if it was autoscopy. But then, I only saw it with my eyes closed (I'd close my eyes, and there was my mirror image right in front of me, in that fuzzy nighttime image, then I'd open them and there'd be nothing.) I understand that autoscopy is with your eyes open, and a clear image. This was more like looking in the mirror with astral vision. Except I was awake and not paralyzed. It only has happened to me 3 or 4 times in my life. Kinda cool. I believe if it would have happened as a kid I would have been scared out of my wits. Now, I have none left, so it doesn't matter.

i dont think i was experiencing was autoscopy. i did a search for the definition of autoscopy and it basically means you're seeing yourself from your projected double's perspective at your physical body.... but what i was expericing was seeing my projected double with my physical eyes.

In the section that starts with 'Patient I' There is a drawing that illustrates what those neuroscientists classify autoscopy, as opposed to OBE. (Of course, they think it's the same.) It goes on to describe it in most of the patients (except 2, if I remember correctly.)

yeah i see it now... i guess maybe what i experienced really was autoscopy... interesting. have you experienced something like this or know anybody else on the board that have experince something similar to what i went through? physically awake doing meditation and seeing his/her own projected double floating and hovering ontop of them facing down looking at them?

interestingly, while i was seeing this figure, there weren't any other things around it was as if it was just me and this projected double in my room which was pitch black because i shut off all the lights prior to this.

It was like i was seeing my projected double as if it was moving around and exploring and seeing all the interesting things in the astral world or anything..

I think i was in a stage right before my projected double actually generates the astral body and leaves for the journey....

What you describe sounds more like projected double to me, because of the darkened room. Was it very clear, or fuzzy? Did it mimic what you do physically (like a mirror) or did it have it's own autonomy?

no it wasn't clear at all... the first night i saw it it was just a mist with a facial figure that i wasn't 100% positive what it was... then the second night... same thing again... then again ... and each time i could make out a little bit more of this misty figure.... like the nose, nose, lips... etc
