The term Astral was coined by Blavatsky at the turn of the last century . She mapped out the higher realms and others have since then too including ;
Bailey
Bardon
Monroe
Stone

But the term Astral is contemporarily used to describe the Middle Realms of the Physical , Ethereal , SubEthereal , Border Ethereal and Lower Middle and Higher Astral Planes .

The Higher Astral Plane has been mapped out . The higher Astral plane is temporally stable and can be mapped out because returning to it will allow you to confirm your past visual observations there . I have mapped it out myself , also .

But the middle Astral Plane is imho variable and not temporally stable . So it is subject to the perceptional abilities of the projector and the time that they are there .

The Middle Realms have been mapped out most clearly by Robert Bruce . He has aptly described projecting on the Astral Grid .Robert Bruce coined the term popularly used today to describe the Real Time Area which is temporally stable as the "Real Time Zone" .

I should just correct one thing if you permit, Blavatsky did not coined the term "Astral" as it was already used by alchemists in the XVIIth century. Astral comes from "astré" which means "light", for the Astral produces its own inner light.

Interesting maps by the way.

The term itself came about due to Theosophical use of Renaissance and other old occult and esoteric material, the cosmology of which identifies astrological influences with the psychic worlds. Contemporary Theosophical and popular esotericism lacks this astrological cosmology, but justifies the term "astral (star) body" on the very dubious claim that this subtle body appears to clairvoyant vision to be scintillating and full of sparks. From there the word unfortunately entered the English language with this meaning (hence "astral travelling", etc).

I just learned something

Astra is the star ie as in the motto "ad astra" meaning in Latin "to the stars" . I have read that she made the term astral and spoke about it being all the realms . I feel today that the Astral is the middle realms specifically .

http://forums.riverofenlightenment.com/ ... 332.0.html "Macte animo, generose puer, sic itur ad adstra" I think it's from Statius in the Ãâ€♥neid.

I believe that the word was also used to refer to the other realms as a whole by the ancient alchemists. Blavatsky though seems to have "specialized" the term I guess.

Emmanuel Swedenborg, they guy who coined the term "Hypnagogic", used the hypnagogic state to do quite a bit. And he wrote several books on it. Keep in mind that his stuff was written over 300 years ago, so there is a heavy relegious context, but I suspect he may have favored "new age" terms had they been available to him. A rose by any other name if you ask me.

His book Heaven and Hell gives a very detailed map, and it's nothing like the church's version. It can be found here...

I had a dream once that forced me to lucidity that was exactly like one of the hells he described. I can post it if anyone is interested
