First of all, thanks for spending some time reading this. In this journal I will attempt to log my experiences with getting an OBE, and describe the process of getting there, and my experiences.
An off-site mirror of this journal can be found HERE. Leaving comments might be easier there as I use WordPress. You can comment without registering or leaving your e-mail address. I do appreciate your insights/comments. You might see some skeptical questions pass in here, as I have an academic background. I DO believe that OBE'ing is possible, so don't bail out yet. If you're not interested in getting to know me better, skip to the tag. I'm a 23 year old male(I don't know if the term "man" already applies to me ![]() I'm currently involved in a Software Engineering course, and I've been practicing meditation on and off since I was 18. My first contact with OBE'ing was during one of my first meditation sessions, where I had the feeling that my entire torso and right arm were falling asleep. It felt like your leg falling asleep, the little stingy needles everywhere. I bailed out of my meditation session, and the feeling lasted at least another 10 minutes. Only later I discovered that this was (probably) related to OBE'ing, and until I started reading Robert's Astral Dynamics book I didn't understand what it completely was. I know understand that it was most likely my energy body being activated. I'll now proceed to share my first experiences: I moved to the couch today(After being advised to do so), and it was most interesting. My practice session was way better than it was on bed. I didn’t fall asleep nor experienced any feelings of getting sleepy. It started off with me sitting on the couch, pillow(Wrapped in a blanket, so my ‘dirty’ socks didn’t make my pillow filthy) under my feet and my hands on my legs. I started working on my right foot, and in the first 2 minutes, I started to feel lightheaded, felt like I sank into the couch. The dizziness wore off after about 3 or 4 minutes. Later on, I felt myself sink further into the couch, and later I heard singing/humming. I ignored it as I thought it was my girlfriend. I continued, and as I started to raise energy through my right leg, every time I moved the energy through the area where my hand was situated, both hands shortly spasmed out(First right, then left). As if a spark from my leg jumped into my right hand, went through my torso and jumped out on my left hand. A very strange sensation, as the spasm was unpleasant, but still very interesting. I also noticed that the energy flow in my feet was quite larger than in my legs. In my feet, I could imagine a bright white ball move up and down my toes, the flow in my legs felt like a thin short piece of wire moving up and down. I presume that the energy body in my feet is much more developed. And my hands are underdeveloped(Because of the shock). I finished after 23 minutes(My meditation alarm went off after 20 minutes, and I extended it another 3 minutes to finish energy raising in my left leg). After I returned the pillow to the bedroom, I went to the working room and told me girlfriend she was a little noise maker. She referred to the drum she bought(She bought a small drum for young children today, which she has to adapt for a school assignment to make it suitable for children who were born with a specific handicap). I then said she was singing/humming, which she denied. So, I have no idea what the singing was, since we don’t have a house ghost Laughing. Perhaps I sank slightly out of my body at the start of my session and heard sounds from the astral, or I just imagined it(Which I doubt). |

I've had a very busy day today, and haven't had much time to practice at home. I saw this coming this morning when I left home, so I decided to do a little energy work on the train.
It already started out great with the train being late, then it didn't depart, and I had to take the regular train, instead of the intercity(Which is 15 minutes faster than the regular). After finding a seat, I settled in and attempted to work on my hands. At first, I had quite some trouble. Next to me was a man with a bad breath and he was constantly talking. After he got off the train 2 stations later I managed to concentrate much better, and work on my hands. I had much more trouble with my hands, and it feels like the energy body in my hands is either non-existent or completely destroyed. I could focus my awareness either below the knuckles or in my finger tips, but moving it through my fingers would make my focus point disappear and re-appear a bit further. As if it skipped a few sections. It might be caused by a lack of proper focus, or that my energy body is just badly developed or destroyed(Not sure. If you do know why, let me know. It would give me a better understanding of what's going on). I spent about 20 to 25 minutes working on my hands alone, by only moving my awareness through my fingers. They just didn't activate very well. On the way back home I didn't have the energy to practice. I was tired, and even partially fell asleep. I remember waking myself up multiple times before I felt myself snoring, and one time I felt that my mouth was hanging open ![]() For tomorrow, I plan on working more on the hands, and do some sponging on my legs/arms. I hope to spend 1 hour total on working on my energy body, as I don't have much to do tomorrow. |

-> BirdOfPrey,
I have no great experience but I can said that working with the feet at first give more satisfaction. The hands are more difficult. The feet are certainly more sentitives than the hands, doing a great job every days, stand up or walking. At the beginning I have no results. But I follow the training, not more than the time. And the tinglings appears. |

Don't worry about not feeling the energy in your hands- This just means that it's flowing good already. And remember that energy can't be destroyed, just rearranged.
let me know how it feels when you do your arms. When you bounce energy from your fingers to your shoulders, you might be surprised how your hands become more responsive. |

I'm glad people are reading this, and even replying. I also noticed I get some traffic on my other WordPress blog, not sure where that came from. This motivates ^_^.
Tiresome day Today wasn't anything particularly special. I woke up late, didn't do anything(Except the dishes) and I felt tired the entire day. Half way the day I decided it was time to do some practicing, so I made some space in the living room, wrapped my pillows in a blanket and got ready. I sat down, with my feet on the pillow/blanket bundle and my hands on my legs. I started out by targeting my left hand, and moved my awareness through each of my fingers. While I was working on my thumb, I noticed how silent everything was, apart from the distant humming of my server(And my thoughts). Quite unusual for the time of the day. After I gone over 2 or 3 fingers, I started to feel really tired. I fought it, but after I gone over my entire hand, I was so tired, I felt like I couldn't do my other hand. So I ceased my session after 15 minutes. Just now(22:15) I started again with my right hand. It went much better than earlier with my left hand. I was still tired, but I was able to move my awareness without too much trouble through all of my fingers in only 7 minutes. I decided not to continue since I'm still quite tired. A reason to dive into bed early today(After I'm done, I'll help my girlfriend with putting our winter bedsheets on the bed and take a shower). On a sidenote: Since I've started doing development of my energy body, my excema got much less inflamed, less itchy. While my back still doesn't look sexy, it's a lot better than before. That's it for now. Oh, and I've recategorized my (off-site) blog, as it now has categories aimed at certain areas, such as Dreams, Energy Development, etc. --------------- Antoll: I fully agree. Working on my feet/legs is more satisfying, even tho I had the opposite during meditation. Normally, when I did a body scan meditation(Lying on my back, relaxing zones of my body), relaxing my hands was awesome. The feeling of completely relaxed hands is great. CFT: I had much greater results today on my hands. It was quite nice. Didn't do my arms today, too tired. Will try tomorrow. |

I wrote this in a minor hurry, as I hear my bed whisper my name(I'm not insane
![]() The energy must flow! Baron Harkonnen said in the Dune movie: The spice must flow! And he was completely right, except the spice should be energy. Allow me to explain ^_^. I started this morning out with another hand session. My girlfriend didn’t feel so well, so she went to lay on bed, and I took my chances because it would be quiet in the ‘house’. I moved to the couch, and let my body decide which hand I would work on. You read it correctly, I let my body decide. Usually when I start practicing NEW(Or when I used to meditate), I would find a comfortable posture, take a few breathes to settle in, and then start out with the limb that responds first. Usually after 2 or 3 breathes, my limbs will slightly activate. When they do, my awareness is automatically drawn towards that limb that activates first or strongest. In this case, my left hand. So, I started to move my awareness through my finger bones(I no longer move it slightly underneath my skin, as I did before, but through the bone. This gives a much better result). After half my hand, I started to feel sleepy again. I resisted, but to no avail. So I had to stop. After I came back home tonight from getting my dad’s car(More on that later), I decided to do another session. Since I had a nap this afternoon, I was much more rested. I decided it was time that I would work on my right hand, since I had neglected it a bit for the past days. After sitting down, settling in, I started to move awareness through it. However, after I had ‘processed’ both my thumb and index finger I noticed that my feet activated. They glowed very warm, and drew my awareness down. I returned it to my middle finger(And after that, another time) and continued my session. After I had done my ring finger I started to feel lightheaded(In the pleasant way), and all the sudden, I felt energy flow through my hand and lower arm. I felt the energy slowly crawl up my arm, and while it did, I felt myself grow taller. My head climbed higher, while the energy in my arm flowed more towards my upper arm. After a few seconds, my left hand/arm did the same. It was quite a profound sensation, the feeling of energy flowing through my arms and hands. I also noticed that my feet seemed to, flow with energy too. Just my feet, and my arms. With every breathe I took, I felt the energy flow higher up my arms. And that’s where my girlfriend had to spoil it. She was in the other room, and knocked something over. I was in a deep concentration, so I jumped up a little(dunno how to describe it… Can’t find a proper English word for it) and lost the feeling. After that, I decided it was a good idea to take a shower and go to bed. |

[b]Again, I'm eager to go to bed. I should write my journal entries earlier on the day[b].
Bouncy bounce! I've been the weekend away, so that's why there isn't an update from saturday. I visited my parents and went to the birthday of my brother's fiance. While I was at my parental home, there wasn't much opportunity to do some energy work. We got home late today, so we did what we had to do, watched some TV and after I sent my girlfriend to bed(Has to get up 06:30) I did some energy work. And I noticed a few things. I decided to do foot work, and wanted to run my awareness through my legs in a quick session(tired). It went quite well, but I noticed that I would avoid my shin bone, and just plot a course around it. So I did some extra practicing on that, to make sure the energy body is strong enough there. I did that on both legs. Eventually I ended up bouncing my awareness in my legs, while it really wasn't the idea of the session. Was a good exercises, because I got the hang of moving my awareness fast. I also noticed that my feet do activate at the slightest sign of energy work. If I sit down with the intention, relax and before I'm good and well settled in, I feel a slight energy flow in my feet. But only the toe area. So perhaps there are some blockades in the rest of my foot. Will spent some extra time on that tomorrow. For tomorrow, I want to do my feet better, do some more bouncing, and perhaps my arms again. Not sure if I have that much time on my hands, esp. since I've felt tired lately, so I want to spent some more time outside. Later this week I'll read the parts of the AD book on energy raising and start out with those exercises. On an unrelated note: The site/forum could use some improvements. a) A separate forum for the journals, to group them together, and to keep the regular forums from being clogged up. b) A movie with RB doing a funny dance with a shoe on his head ![]() |

Energy block / faint trance
I think I have a block in my right foot(And perhaps in my left, couldn't find out). I was doing some foot work today, and when I was brushing/stirring the sole of my right foot, my entire right leg tensed up. It had very light spasms here and there, but it was generally all tensed up. Seems like it needs work. After I discovered the block, I felt lightheaded again. At some point, it felt like I had tilted my head to the right(It was still straight up, I double checked). This was quite distracting, and made it harder to practice. I started working on my left foot after the block showed up and my leg tensed up more. Due to my lightheadedness, working on my left foot was quite difficult. I got distracted all the time, and gave up after brushing/stirring the sole a few times and drifting away all the time. I'm not sure, but I think I had a light trance, since my hands were VERY heavy and felt like they were glowing. Not sure, so if anyone should shed some information on this, I'd be glad. |

Been out of it for a week
I haven’t done much for the past week. I was quite busy with school, my girlfriend was sick and I didn’t really was able to find moments to practice a bit. I noticed that in the week I didn’t practice, my sexual drive returned to normal. I was over at my girlfriend’s parents last weekend, and at some point, I was really bored on the couch. So I threw a pillow on the floor, placed my feet on it and did some energy work. It felt quite good, and later that day I was able to do some sponging. My feet felt cold from the focus(I was wearing socks and shoes at that moment, so it was just a sensation), and I used awareness hands to draw the cold feeling up my entire left leg. It took some more work to do the same with my right leg, but eventually, both legs had this cold sensation. I noticed that the sensations I feel differ in intensity and form all the time. Most of the time, it feels warm, glowy. That is especially the case when I do energy work on my hands/feet: I imagine my awareness being a ball of energy, moving through my bones. In some cases during energy work, they feel cold, no idea, it’s the same area I focus on. Perhaps it’s caused by different forms of focusing. Today I had 2 sessions: 1 working on my hands, and the other working on my legs. I ate before the 2nd sessions, so I ended up feeling really tired(Fell asleep on the couch). Later tonight I want to practice a total body relaxation, as part of preparing for trance. |

I've been a bad boy... I haven't worked much on my energy body exercises this week. For some reason, I'm too busy to make time for it.
And next week, I'm going to be working 40 hours a week from a different location that home. So, anyone has some ideas on how I can combine that with my exercises? First one to reply will get a FREE cookie: ![]() |

I'll be sitting in the office for about 6 ~ 8 hours a day, and travelling 2 times 30 minutes by train.
As for the cookies, I'll be sending them right now. Excuse my unresponsiveness, I'm usually so tired at the end of the day, that I don't practice. I need to find something for that. Today I'm home, so I've planned a few sessions to catch up. Right now, I'm re-reading the full body relaxation stuff, and intend to practice with that. Perhaps try to fully relax my body and do some energy work after that. |

I'm too busy with others things to make time for some practicing, while it only should take 5 to 10 minutes a day. I'm probably going to spend some time on it in the train/bus to the office.
Anyway, today I was home so I finally got around to spend some time practicing again. I picked a deep physical relaxation and a short energy work exercise. During the full relaxation technique I noticed I have quite a few tension spots in my body, even tho I'm a very relaxed person. Most of these spots are in my legs, so I'm going to work more on those, and perhaps have my girlfriend massage them this weekend(And of course, return the favor). During the relaxation exercises I managed to get my body quite relaxed, but a bit too relaxed I think. After I took my 10 breaths AFTER relaxing every part, I felt so drowsy, I could hardly focus. I really need some pointers on how to keep focuses properly, since I was rested. After I while I took the pillow that I placed in my neck, and took a nap on the couch. After that, I did some regular work. The energy exercise was a pretty intense, relaxing session. I lit 3 candles in the living room, sat comfortably on the couch with my feet on my pillows again(Wrapped in a blanket, like I always do). I placed my hands next to my legs on the couch, with the palms down. I took a few deep breathes, and waited till my body responded and then started guiding energy through my right hand fingers. My right hand went quite easy, and I was pretty deep relaxed when I started working on my left hand. I didn't get much further than my index finger before I went blank in my mind. However, the strangest thing happened. My awareness played tricks with my hands. I felt like I was sitting with my arms wide(Instead of having them face forward, my hands were actually facing my sides, with my arms slightly elevated). I was pretty sure I didn't move my arms, but I didn't want to ruin the awesome feeling in my hands. After that, things got even weirder. It started out with being crossed over, where my right hand felt like it was on the place of my left hand and vice versa. It changed into joined hands not much later, where I felt like I had only 1 hand, and the feeling of both my hands were combined into 1. The sensation was so intensely profound, that I enjoyed every single second of it, and just sat there, not wanting to ruin how I felt. I really felt timeless, completely now. After enjoying this for a minute of 3 or 4, I was starting to get itch in my face. Not the kind of itch that's slightly annoying, but the kind of itch that feels like a thousand ants are walking on a miniscule piece of your skin. As I still didn't want to ruin my profound feeling, I used the itch as concentration object, and instead of making it go away, I embraced, and tried to hold it for as long as possible. That worked quite well, but it didn't go away. I think I spend a total of 10 minutes in that state, and then slowly returned to normal life. And now, I'm off to bed. NOTE: Pardon the bad grammar, spelling errors and crappy sentences, I didn't bother to proof-read this piece. I'll do that tomorrow and fix it if necessary. |
