Default OBE or just sleepwalking?
Hello all,

I don't think I really believe in astral projection, but a month ago I came across Robert Bruce's NEW system and started doing the exercises. Right away, I seemed to do very well with them. Shortly thereafter I began waking up at nights and experiencing the OBE vibrations described by Bruce. This has been going on for a several weeks now, but there have been no out-of-body excursions (that I can remember).

Last night something different happened. I think it was just sleepwalking, but I would like to get someone else's take on it:

I woke up last night feeling the vibrations. My eyes were closed and there were still some random bits of dream imagery appearing. I focused on something that looked like a black and white street sign until it snapped into intense focus. I can sometimes use that method to get into a lucid dream state. This time it brought the vibrations to a peak and I felt my body slowly sitting up in bed. I continued moving out over my bed into the middle of the room. There was no feeling in my legs or feet, just the sensation of gliding.

At this point I believed I was having an OBE. But then I suddenly felt my feet on the carpet and began to feel like I was fully waking up. I turned to face the bed and opened my eyes. My side of the bed was empty and it occured to me that I was just sleepwalking. Amused, I got back in bed, reviewed the event in my mind, and went to sleep.

This morning I'm 90% percent sure that it was just a sleepwalking episode. I have sleepwalked from time to time through out my life, so that wouldn't be so unusual. But, there were textbook OBE sensations, and also the feeling of gliding over my bed. Also, I'm not sure why I was certain my bed was empty when it would been difficult to see in the dark.

I'd love to hear from people with more knowledge in these things. Perhaps I am short changing this experience.

I can't tell for sure what happened for you, but it sounds to me like you sleepwalked while remote viewing. The combo of vibes plus the street sign tells me that you were going OBE but got up instead of separating. So maybe in your case, you should attempt an exit technique that doesn't involve sitting or standing, (like rope or any of it's cousins) or you should then try phasing, which takes your focus away from your body.
Something I am learning to do when having exit sensations but not being paralyzed is to try to 'lean' towards the visions, imagining like 'falling into them', and if I'm deep enough in trance, it works. You may need something like this, because if you tend to sleepwalk, your body doesn't paralyze as easily as others'.
Keep trying, you can do it.

You had an OBE -- Out of Bed Experience...

But seriously, not seeing your body is not uncommon, so there's really no telling what the experience was :-S
