Default Stuck and Frustrated
I have been trying to AP for a number of months now.
It all started when I was having my first session of Reiki and entered a trance where I could feel my energy body floating.

Ever since I have read Robert Bruce's books and more recently have started the Monroe Institue Gateway Experience.

I am confident that I am getting close. I can enter deep Focus 10 (Gateway Experience) and I get to the following stage:

Body Vibrations & strong pressure in brow/crown chakra
Mind awake/body asleep state
Sensation of energy body (especially hands and lower legs) and the feeling that my arms are outstretched - even though my physical hands are at my sides.

When I get to this stage I try to expand my awareness, however no progress. I have also tried the rope technique, simply floating out, rolling out, you name it I have tried it. I am not sure whether I am placing too much/too little focus on the physical sensations rather than the mental ones and vice versa.

I am getting a bit frustrated after practising my technique every night and only getting to the same stage. I have not experienced any visuals (which I would love!).

If anyone has any pointers on how to progress I would appreciate it.

Diane

Diane, my tip is to try focussing as hard as you can on the pulsing sensation in the brow chakra when it returns. About two weeks ago I had a spontaneous out of body experience. I woke up in the morning lying in bed when suddenly the repeated, strong beating/pulsing sensations hit me in the brow chakra.

As soon as the pulsing sensations started, I actually clenched my teeth together in order to try to amplify it, which may sound rather unusual. I just put as much focus and concentration as I could into the brow chakra area as soon as I noticed this beating sensation, and clenching my teeth helped me to do this for some reason.

I focussed as strongly as I could in order to amplify this pulsing sensation, in order to make it harder, stronger, harder and stronger. Eventually it felt so forceful and strong that a multitude of bizarre and strange Astral noises hit me, and then I was literally propelled out of my body with an almost science fiction *wiiizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz* sound. This was actually my first conscious out of body experience where I could actually see my surroundings. The actual out of body experience itself only lasted for about 5 seconds unfortunately, because the phone then rang.

So yes, try and amplify that pulsing sensation with sheer intent when it hits you. I didn't actually do any mental techniques (like the rope technique) at the time, I simply focussed as strongly as I could on this pulsing sensation.

Thanks for the reply Athelstone, I will give this a try.
One thing I forgot to mention in my first post which may be affecting things is the fact that I have been on prescription pain medication for the last few months for a broken coccyx - codeine 60mg 3x a day. Maybe this could be preventing me experiencing a full projection?

It's possible. I find when I take things as simple as advil it makes it difficult to project. So I can see how something stronger can interfere.
