Default What are your techniques for getting into trance for OBE?
I've only gotton into trance the first time I tried OBE. Now I cant get into a trance for anything! Ive laid in my bed for over 30 mins at a time and IF I do get into trance it lasts about 3 secs. then Im back.

How do YOU get into trance? Just relaxing your mind and wait for it to come? Do you use a unique method?

Thanks

Hey man. I actually found through trial and error that during the time I was doing just like you thinking, 'I can't get into trance', I WAS getting into trance but wasn't recognizing it. Trance is not so different or strange a state as you may think, and it happens much more quickly than you presently imagine, if your experiences are anything at all like mine. It seems like the exact thing.

Do something active, like walking around briskly, eating, or something, and pay attention to how your body feels. While fully physically active try for a moment to imagine yourself somewhere else, and notice details of what occurs.

Now, do whatever it is you do to get into trance, and notice the difference:

Do you notice you are more relaxed? Do you find that a certain light heaviness has set over you? Can you look at your eyelids and see little squiggles of light? If you try to imagine yourself somewhere else, can you do it more easily? Do you have small moments where you seem to be where you are imagining?

I guarantee that you ARE getting into trance. You just spend the majority of your trance going, "When will I get into trance." If you practice that much, I'll say if you're lightly drowsy when you try you are entering trance in about 5 minutes. (That is a key by the way. Practice when lightly drowsy).

Peace.

Just relaxing the mind won't get you into trance. You might near sleep, occasionally remaining aware enough to experience trance, but this can be pretty hit and miss.
When I first set out to produce trance I turned to hypnosis, and this helped a lot. I now have a system of counting to 10, each step consisting of actions which produce a deeper level of trance.
At 10, I'm in a light/medium trance, and from there I can use other techniques to deepen it.
Counting to ten is a trigger for a learnt response developed over years of enforcement (it's based upon Monroe’s induction to F10).

Having a regular meditation practice can help develop trance too. With good meditation, you notice yourself entering quite a deep trance level (to the extent of not being aware of your body any more). But I would advise against mixing meditation techniques and trance/obe techniques. This is because OBE techniques more often than not lead to sleep. This is then associated with the techniques used, so next time you meditate, you feel yourself feeling more drowsy than normal.

the falling method... i swear by that. Just catch the mental falling feeling, then concentrate on absolutly nothing to make it stick, once you feel confident, call out the vibrations. Use both of these feelings together, if your only vibrating, or only falling, then your not doing it right.

this is mearly speculation... i have yet to try this out to a successful detatchment. I have only tryed it once. I am going to try it again soon.. ill keep you posted on the progress.

Yeah thats the same problem I have. It is not just relaxing. There is more to it. The problem I find is that most people think the trance state is a relaxed mind or meditation, which it is not.

I'll look in to the Monro induction technique, I didn't know there was one, do you have a link for it if it is on the web? Also, can you share the system you developed with us? I'd (and probaly everyone else) would be really greatful.

What techniques do you use while counting to 10 to induce the light/meduim trance and what techniques do you use to deepen them? There isn't alot of resources that I have found out there that go over that kind of thing.

One technique I found useful for stopping mental chatter is the bubble method. Each thought is a bubble floating upwards in your mind's eye. All you have to do is pop the bubble (with the thought in it) before it has chance to rise...and before you ahve chance to recognise what thought the bubble contains.

That's my two pennies worth.

One method that worked amazingly well for me was spinning. I would picture myself spinning counterclockwise in place; the room rotating around me. This threw me into trance very quickly.

For some reason counterclockwise worked far more effectively than clockwise. It might have something to do with right/left-handedness, or it might not be related at all. In the end, it doesn't matter I suppose.

if you have felt the vibrations before just "feel" them after you hit the falling feeling. You should feel like your vibrating and falling..

Reminds me of throwing up. I suppose that helps, because you feel very weak in that phase and it's as if you're being carried off somewhere, although it feels strange afterward, like you've just had a 'fall-off-cliff' dream and the sickness reflect in your consciousness.

I don't know about 'calling the vibrations' just assume you've smacked your head and you can really feel it. Put your heart in to feeling it, not just visualising it

I'll start writing it down and post it. I haven't had much time recently to do it due to starting a new job
